The DVD video single for 'a sorta fairytale'; Re-released on July 1, 2003 with different jewelbox packaging
Posted Thu, Jul 10, 2003 - 4:28pm ET | Music
image We know that a DVD single for a sorta fairytale was released on April 8, 2003 in the U.S. and on April 29, 2003 in Canada. The original packaging was in a tall yellow plastic DVD case. On July 1, 2003, Epic released this DVD video single again (at least in the U.S.), but in different packaging. The new packaging is a standard CD-sized jewel case. The overall artwork and DVD content is exactly the same, just the way it is packaged is different. The new release is a few dollars cheaper than the older one. Amazon.com currently has listings for both the older version of this single (which is now called a "Special Edition DVD single) and the newer version which they call a DVD Single/Jewelbox. I have scans of the new packaging sent by Danny (cruelEWF78), as well as full details about this DVD single.  [Click for details...]

Neil Gaiman posts interesting Tori tidbits to his online journal about Tori's upcoming tour/album
Posted Wed, Jul 02, 2003 - 5:03pm ET | Tour
Go to Neil Gaiman's online journal and you can see what he wrote about Tori as part of his July 2, 2003 entry. Here is a summary of what Neil said:

  • Tori is currently rehearsing with her band for the Summer 2003 tour AND for the new song(s) on her upcoming Greatest Hits CD. (He did not explain what he meant exactly by "new songs". While this seems to indicate there could be brand new songs on the Greatest Hits album, I hesitate to say that for sure until we know more. He could also be referring older songs remixed or something like that.)
  • Tori claims to Neil that she will perform "Snow Cherries From France" on her upcoming tour, although he does not know if it will appear on the Greatest Hits CD. Neil calls it a "pretty, stange, love song". I really hope this happens!
  • This tour will be Tori's last time on the road until at least 2005. Before you start making plans for 2005, keep in mind that Neil says "at least" 2005. It could be even longer than that.

Toriamos.com has posted the Taxivision Contest Finalists!
Posted Wed, Jul 02, 2003 - 3:33am ET | Toriphiles
Go now to the Taxivision section of Toriamos.com, and watch the videos of the 9 finalists selected by Tori, and also read a little message from Tori herself. Then you can vote for the entry you like the best. At a later date, Tori will reveal the winner she has picked. Check out the videos, they are really interesting! (Thanks to Rachel Hurley for alerting me to this.)

There are no samples from "Winter" in the final released version of Four Tet's album "Rounds"
Posted Fri, Jun 27, 2003 - 4:58pm ET | Music
I reported yesterday that Four Tet's 2003 album Rounds has a song called Unspoken that samples Tori's song Winter. This is even mentioned in a review of the album at pitchforkmedia.com. However, Eric Winchell tells me that the sampling is not present in the final released version of the album. It was there in an earlier promo release, but for some reason did not make it in the final cut. Thanks also to Chuck for verifying this for me.  [Click for details...]

Ticketmaster.com has added a listing for Tori's August 31st show in N. Charleston, SC!
Posted Wed, Jun 18, 2003 - 4:10pm ET | Tour
Ticketmaster.com has added a listing for Tori's August 31, 2003 concert in N. Charleston, SC at the North Charleston Coliseum. Ticketmaster states that tickets will go on sale Saturday, June 21, 2003 at 10:00am. This sale date agrees with the info posted at the North Charleston Coliseum web site. This sale date still conflicts with Toriamos.com, who says that Tickets for N. Charleston go on sale Fri, June 20, 2003. While I feel that the June 21st date is correct, I would still check on June 20th to be safe. I have added this info to the Dent's Lottapianos Tour Schedule Page. Update: CC.com has also updated their listing for N. Charleston, and they also say tickets will go on sale Sat, June 21, 2003 at 10:00am.

It appears that Tori was NOT on the "100 Greatest Songs Of Country Music" special on CMT
Posted Tue, Jun 17, 2003 - 4:25pm ET | TVRadio
The CMT network in the U.S. showed several times in June 2003 a special called the "100 Greatest Songs Of Country Music" . (They will show it yet again on June 27, 2003 at 8:00PM.) Tori was listed as one of the artists that would appear on this 6 hour TV program/countdown according to several people who saw commercials for it and rockontv.com. However, several people who watched the show did not see Tori. Therefore unless I get an email to the contrary, I am forced to conclude that Tori was NOT on this program. I am sorry to anyone who sat through this 6-hour program to catch Tori based on what they read on The Dent...

Posted Mon, Jun 16, 2003 - 4:18pm ET | Tour

They state that tickets for that show will go on sale Saturday, June 21, 2003 at 10:00AM. Tickets are $44.50 and $32.50. This sale date conflicts with the one posted at Toriamos.com, who says that Tickets for N. Charleston go on sale Fri, June 20, 2003. The location where tickets will be sold is Ticketmaster.com. I say check Ticketmaster BOTH days to see if tickets go on sale. I have added this info to the Dent's Lottapianos Tour Schedule. Many thanks to Scott K. for telling me about this.
