A place to discuss and post reviews for the Lottapianos Concert Tour
Posted Mon, Jul 28, 2003 - 2:14am ET | Tour
While I still want you to email the Dent (mikewhy@iglou.com) with your reviews and comments for the the current Lottapianos Tour, I would also like to make you aware of a new online forum where you can post concert reviews and discuss the shows. Toritraders.com has created their Concert Reviews Forum, and I would like to suggest that anyone who wants a more interactive place to post reviews can do so there! (If you hear about the show while it is still going on, you can post about that there as well.) The forum is run by dedicated fans, and I feel it could be a wonderful spot to trade tour experiences with each other.

What we know about Tori's upcoming "Best of" album, which will likely be released November 17/18, 2003
Posted Sun, Jul 27, 2003 - 6:09pm ET | Music
We know that there will be a new "Greatest Hits" CD released later in 2003 by Atlantic. I have decided to refer to it as the "Best Of" album, since Tori called it that during her Redmond, WA meet and greet, and a trusted European source saw an offical release schedule from Warner France, and it calls the upcoming CD "Tori Amos, Best of". That same release schedule gives a release date of November 18, 2003 for this album, which sounds like the likely U.S. release date as well. Danny, who works for a large music chain in the U.K., has seen a listing calling it "Tori Amos: Best Of" with a U.K. release date of November 17, 2003. There is still info at pauseandplay.com that claims this album will surface on October 7, 2003, but that seems too early to me based on what I am now hearing. We do not know the exact content of the album, but we have read articles lately that make it clear that Tori has been in her Cornwall Studio recording some material with the band. An article in the July 24, 2003 Tacoma News Tribune suggests that there could be new songs on the album (although I have yet to see something definitive about that), while we also know for sure that some of her older songs have been "reworked".

There is a Tori interview in the July 24, 2003 edition of the Tacoma News Tribune. Tori calls her upcoming Lottapianos Tour "her final stretch of tour dates before taking a few years off". The article also mentions her upcoming Greatest Hits CD and seems to imply that there will be new material on it, although I am not 100% sure of that.  [Click for details...]

Tori took part in an MSN Celebrity Chat on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 which began at 8:00PM ET/5:00PM PT. Tori talked about her upcoming Lottapianos Tour with Ben Folds. Macintosh users are not allowed to take part in MSN chats, so I was unable to take part. However, many kind people forwarded the chat transcript to The Dent, including Raven Oak and Hope Pineau, who were first.  [Click for details...]

Toriamos.com posts the Lottapianos Request List: Vote for the song you want Tori to play on tour!
Posted Sat, Jul 19, 2003 - 6:50am ET | Tour
Dan and Robert were the first to tell me that Toriamos.com has placed a poll on the web site where fans can vote for the song they most want to hear on the upcoming Lottapianos Summer 2003 Tour. There is a list of 26 songs, and I was surprised to see a lot of really wonderful and rare songs on there, like Do It Again, Datura, Way Down, and Indian Summer. (There is a song called "Ms. Otis Regrets" that I have not seen associated with Tori before. I believe this is a Cole Porter song.) However, you can only vote for one song. Go to Toriamos.com, and you will see the link to the poll in the Lottapianos pop-up that appears on the site. (I am torn between Suede, Datura, and Do It Again myself!)

Posted Thu, Jul 17, 2003 - 4:43pm ET | Articles

Toriamos.com announces the Taxivision Winners!
Posted Tue, Jul 15, 2003 - 2:28am ET | Toriphiles
Toriamos.com has just updated their Taxivision web page with the winners from the Taxivision contest! The page includes a letter from Tori talking about the winners she selected. The #1 winner was the "Taxi Ride" video from Susan Hebert. Tori said her #2 choice was from Barclay Deveau, and #3 was from Lee McCaulla. Tori also said that her #4 choice would have been by Ming-Shian Wang. Congratulations to the winner Susan and all the other folks mentioned by Tori! (You can now watch the winning video from Susan on Toriamos.com.)

In the version of Tori's Taxivision letter sent out by the Toriamos.com mailing list, there was a special P.S. not included online. It says, "I'd like your input on some songs that you might want to hear live on the Tour. Stay tuned this week to toriamos.com for details." We'll have to wait and see exactly what she means by this!

Tori's version of "I'm Not In Love" played during 'All My Children'; Related RAINN Charity auction at eBay
Posted Sat, Jul 12, 2003 - 2:02am ET | Sightings
On Tuesday, July 8, 2003, Tori's version of "I'm Not In Love" was featured prominently on the ABC soap All My Children. Many thanks to all the people who sent me email about this, including e m and Karolyn who were first. The song was played during a pivotal scene in which a major character was raped. The following day they broadcast a RAINN PSA after the TV program. Luci tells me that in connection with the rape storyline on All My Children involving Bianca Montgomery (played by Eden Riegel), BAM fans (Bianca & Maggie) have organized a charity auction on eBay that will run throughout the month of July 2003 with all proceeds going to RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network). The auction will include various items autographed by AMC cast members, phone calls from the cast, and other non-AMC related items.  [Click for details...]

You can now view a Quicktime trailer of the upcoming movie Mona Lisa Smile; Tori listing at IMDB.com
Posted Sat, Jul 12, 2003 - 1:25am ET | Music
As reported earlier, Tori taped a wedding scene in this movie where she sang two 40's style songs. (It remains to be scene how much of that will remain after editing.) This Quicktime trailer does NOT show Tori, but gives you a glance at the movie, which hits theaters on December 19, 2003. In other news on this film, there is an entry for Mona Lisa Smile at IMDB.com now, and they not only mention Tori but if you check out the Tori Amos page at IMDB.com, you will find some nice photos of Tori from her appearance on the VH1 Big In 2002 Awards show. For these and all the latest details about Tori's contribution to this movie, check out The Dent's Mona Lisa Smile Page. Thanks to Stephanie Bean, Adam and Blindhope for this information.

Voting in the Taxivision Contest is now over
Posted Sat, Jul 12, 2003 - 1:09am ET | Toriphiles
If you check out the Taxivision Web Page, you will now see a message that voting is now over and to check back on Monday, July 14, 2003 to find out which Taxivision entry was Tori's favorite. I am not sure if they will show the final voting results because it appears that the winning entry will be Tori's favorite and not come as a result of the voting, which seems to have been more for fun than anything else. Stay tuned...
