The book "Oldman's Guide to Outsmarting Wine" will include exclusive Tori content!
Posted Mon, Nov 15, 2004 - 11:30pm ET | Merchandise
Mark Oldman has written a book called Oldman's Guide to Outsmarting Wine which will be released in the U.S. (and likely elsewhere) on December 7, 2004 by Viking Penguin. This book will include an exclusive profile of Tori's wine preferences.  Tori proves herself knowledgeable about wine, especially Bordeaux.  Tori's wine-preference profile joins those of other notable wine lovers, such as Francis Ford Coppola, Morley Safer of 60 Minutes, novelist Jay McInernery, celebrity chef Mario Batali, and even hip-hop star Ludacris. You can find out more about this book at markoldman.com. That website includes many free outtakes from the book, including a great quote from Tori that can be found here. Many thanks to both Mark and Jennifer Pope for telling me about this new book!

You can pre-order this book at Amazon.com, and by doing so using this link, you will also be supporting The Dent. Thank you!

The Little Blue World fanzine is looking for an Art Director/Layout Artist
Posted Fri, Nov 12, 2004 - 10:12pm ET | Toriphiles
The quarterly Tori Amos fanzine little-blue-world.org is in search of an art director to process artwork submissions to Little Blue World and layout the zine for publication. Familiarity with Quark for Mac and basic Photoshop required. Own equipment and software essential. Must be skilled in design.

Little Blue World's staff is volunteer; after the costs of production are paid, all revenues raised by the fanzine are donated to the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN). Though the position is unpaid, LBW is a professionally published fanzine that would make a good addition to anyone's design portfolio. The Art Director/Layout Artist receives 5 copies per issue. Please e-mail a cover letter to artwork@little-blue-world.org telling a bit about yourself and your qualifications and providing either a web link or samples of previous design experience. Questions about the position may be directed to Fastrada at that email address.

Periodic Reminder: The Trio TV channel in the U.S. will be rebroadcasting their two Tori Amos specials several times in the next few months. They are Tori Amos: Scarlet Sessions and Tori Amos: Remixed, Remastered, Revealed. These have both already been televised many times, but I wanted to mention it again in case someone missed them. I do not plan to list all these repeats on the Dent since they are so numerous, but you can check out the Schedule Section of Triotv.com, and then type in 'Tori Amos' in the Schedule Search box to find out the various dates and times when each of these excellent 1-hour programs will be shown. Both programs are listed under the show name Sounds Like Trio, instread of the show name they used to have which was "Trio On Tour"

Toriamos.com is updated with a news item about "The Beekeeper" and a photo of Tori in the studio!
Posted Sat, Oct 30, 2004 - 10:35am ET | Music
Tori's official web site at toriamos.com now has posted a news item about her upcoming new album The Beekeeper which is essentially the same information revealed by the Sony Music Entertainment Press Release from October 29, 2004. In addition to this, they have made available a photo of Tori in the studio. Check it out!

More articles on Tori's new album from Billboard, Rolling Stone, LiveDaily and undercover.com.au
Posted Sat, Oct 30, 2004 - 2:38am ET | Articles
More articles about Tori's new album The Beekeeper were posted on October 29, 2004 and October 30, 2004 at Billboard.com, Rollingstone.com, LiveDaily.com and Undercover.com.au. They are just variations on the new album press release I posted about earlier and do not reveal anything new. The Billboard article however does give sales figures for Tori's most recent releases. Scarlet's Walk has sold 577,000 copies in the United States so far, and Welcome to Sunny Florida has sold 41,000 copies according to Soundscan. Thanks Megan, Rudy, and Peter for their help with this.  [Click for details...]

Full press release about Tori's new album called "The Beekeeper"
Posted Fri, Oct 29, 2004 - 4:30pm ET | Articles
Thanks to Woj and Megan for emailing me about this. You can now find a full press release from Sony Music Entertainment about Tori's new album called The Beekeeper. This is obviously the source of information for the MTV.com and USA Today stories I reported on earlier. You can read the press release, which includes quotes from Tori about the album, at biz.yahoo.com and prnewswire.com. The press release verifies the album release date of February 22, 2005, as well as the song titles, Sweet the Sting, Sleeps with Butterflies, and Ribbons Undone. It also states that Tori "incorporates vintage organs, Afro-Cuban drums and Gospel choirs, working once again with longtime partners, drummer Matt Chamberlain and bassist Jon Evans."   [Click for details...]

Song titles and more details about Tori's new album from USA Today!
Posted Fri, Oct 29, 2004 - 8:32am ET | Articles
Update: I have been told by Andy that the October 29, 2004 weekend edition of USA Today includes this same story as well, as well as a small photo of Tori taken by Loren Haynes, on the front page of the Life section! Click the details link to see this photo!

A "Coming Attractions" article posted to usatoday.com on October 28, 2004 reveals more information about Tori's new album called The Beekeeper. It gives a release date of February 23, 2005, although I think they actually mean February 22, 2005 since that is on a Tuesday. The article then reveals the following, giving three songs titles. They say Tori will be , "incorporating vintage organs, Afro-Cuban percussion and gospel choirs in such tunes as Sweet the Sting, Sleeps With Butterflies and Ribbons Undone". The article also mentions Tori's new book called Tori Amos, Piece by Piece, and confirms its February 8, 2005 release date. So we are learning more and more about this new album!  [Click for details...]

Mtv.com says Tori's new album is called "The Beekeeper"
Posted Fri, Oct 29, 2004 - 1:23am ET | Music
A small news item posted on October 28, 2004 at mtv.com talks about Tori's upcoming book, which we already knew about. But they also mention her new album, and state that it has the title The Beekeeper. Here is what MTV.com reports:
Meanwhile, Tori Amos' upcoming book, "Tori Amos: Piece by Piece," co-written with music journalist Ann Powers, has just been finished. The tome offers a rare look inside the singer's mind, her personal history, her muses and her artistic process. The book's release in February will coincide with Amos' eighth album, The Beekeeper. ...

Thanks to Tony for telling me about this. As of now, the Dent has been told that this album will be released on February 22, 2005, although the date could change again. We have no additional info about the album at this time. The book "Tori Amos: Piece by Piece" comes out that same month, and online vendors are still giving a release date of February 8, 2005 for that. Click here for more details about the book.

Tori's new album now has a release date of February 22, 2005
Posted Tue, Oct 26, 2004 - 10:07pm ET | Music
I earlier reported from a reliable source that the release date for Tori's new Epic album would be February 8, 2005. That source now tells me that the release date has been delayed until February 22, 2005. This could still change again, but for now, February 22nd is the date!

We have heard tiny comments about this new album from drummer Matt Chamberlain, who recorded the album with Tori earlier this year, as well as from Neil Gaiman. Looks like we have an exciting 2005 to look forward to! As Tori mentioned herself, a tour will likely follow around the same time as the album's release, and we are waiting also to find out more about that. Tori has implied that it will be a solo tour, at least at first, but we have no definite confirmation at this time. Keep The Dent bookmarked for more news as it arrives!

Thanks to Jessica Chancey and William Smith IV for telling me about this. The store Bath & Body Works in the U.S. is currently selling a new double CD called The Perfect Christmas: Holiday Music which contains Tori's live version of Little Drummer Boy. This should be the same version of Little Drummer Boy that has appeared on various promotional only CDs from Atlantic from the Mid 90's, as well as the bonus CD More Pink which appeared in Australia in 1994, and various compilation albums, including one called You Sleigh Me. This new Christmas compilation CD from Bath & Body Works (which came out sometime in October 2004) includes one disc called Be Jolly and another called Be Merry. Tori designed a corset for a Fredericks of Hollywood auction
Posted Tue, Oct 19, 2004 - 7:21am ET | RAINN
Tori Amos is one of several celebrities who have designed a corset for Fredericks of Hollywood. Fredericks.com states you will be able to bid on all these pieces of celebrity-designed wearable art starting on October 19, 2004. The auction is Frederick of Hollywood's 2nd Annual Lingerie Art Auction and will benefit RAINN, the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network. Thanks to Andrea Phillips, Danielle and Jamie Lauren York for letting me know about this. I have been told that Tori's corset was on display at the Frederick's of Hollywood store on Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, CA, but I am not sure if that is still the case. In any event, you can see the corset and find a link to the auction at Fredericks.com. (Tori's is the one that looks like a bee!)

Neil Gaiman mentions Tori and the recent Florida hurricanes
Posted Thu, Sep 30, 2004 - 2:50pm ET | Miscellaneous
In a September 29, 2004 post in his online journal, Neil Gaiman briefly responds to a reader question about Tori's Florida house and the recent hurricanes. Neil simply states that Tori's house is fine except for someone else's fifty-foot yacht which was blown into her yard. Tori herself was not there during the storms and is fine. Thanks to Annalisa for bringing this to my attention.
