Posted Tue, Oct 21, 2003 - 2:16am ET | Articles
An article about Tori's founding of the Bridge Entertainment Group, an artist and project development company, was posted by Reuter's on October 18, 2003. This was a longer version of the article that Billboard.com posted on October 9, 2003, and it includes even more quotes from Tori.  [Click for details...]

Tori Sightings: Tori in the Financial Times, OnTap and The Times of India Online

I added three more sightings to the Dent. The first is an article on Bösendorfers from the Financial Times that includes several Tori quotes. The second is an article in the Washington D.C. bar guide tabloid OnTap about D.C. musicians who made it big. The other is a strange article from The Times of India Online about hickeys!  [Click for details...]

It looks like Tori did NOT perform during the Fall 2003 Walt Disney World Press Event...
Posted Tue, Oct 14, 2003 - 1:55pm ET | Miscellaneous
I earlier pointed out an October 8, 2003 article at jimhillmedia.com that claimed that Tori would be doing some kind of performance during the Fall 2003 Walt Disney World Press Event in Orlando, FL sometime around October 8-10, 2003. This event was only open to journalists and was closed to the general public. Disney uses the WDW Press Event to hype the latest attractions at Walt Disney World. I have word from Erin O'Neil, who has friends who work in media in Orlando and who were invited to this event, and they tell her Tori did not perform. So I am assuming unless I hear otherwise that the Jim Hill Media article was wrong about Tori being there...

Atlantic Music Newswire includes a slightly different picture from the "Tales Of A Librarian" photo session
Posted Tue, Oct 14, 2003 - 12:00am ET | Music
image Thanks to Tori Mazur who first pointed this out to me. Atlantic Records sent out an email today (October 13, 2003) to their mailing list, something they call the Atlantic Music Newswire. It covered the upcoming release of Tori's Tales Of A Librarian, publishing most of the Atlantic Press release that was published a few weeks ago. While they did not reveal anything new, they did include a small picture of Tori that is different from the album cover we have already seen. You can see the photo to the right. It is obviously from the same photo session!

Tori may have two songs on the Soundtrack to Mona Lisa Smile: "You Belong To Me" and "Murder, He Says"
Posted Mon, Oct 13, 2003 - 4:46pm ET | Music
I earlier reported that Tori has a song on the upcoming Soundtrack to the film Mona Lisa Smile called You Belong To Me. (Thanks to eef, who saw the song on a Sony Music Advance Sampler!) Another anonymous source from a film distribution company tells me that Tori will have two songs on the soundtrack. The songs are You Belong To Me and Murder, He Says. This source also reveals that other artists on the soundtrack include Seal, Macy Gray, Celine Dion, Chris Isaak and Barbara Streisand. The soundtrack consists of new recordings of songs from the time period by contemporary artists. (The film takes place in the 50's.) Since I do not have a second source for the Murder, He Says song title, I must stress that it is not completely official yet. But this source seems very reliable to me, and I wanted to share the news with you. The soundtrack is due in the U.S. on November 25, 2003 on Epic/Sony Music Soundtrax. Tori's vocals on the soundtrack are reportedly husky and very different from anything she's ever done. The Dent's Mona Lisa Smile Page has all known details about the movie and this soundtrack. The movie Mona Lisa Smile opens in theatres December 19, 2003. Tori has a cameo part in the film.

It appears that "Tales Of A Librarian: will be released in two versions: One will contain the DVD and one will not; Australian release of TOAL might be November 24, 2003
Posted Sun, Oct 12, 2003 - 2:45pm ET | Music
If you visit either amazon.co.uk or HMV.co.uk, both in the U.K., you will find two listings for Tori's upcoming Tales Of A Librarian. The more expensive one contains the DVD and the other does not. You can pre-order either one. (Thanks to Ben and Matt Youens for this info.) At Amazon.com in the U.S., there is still only one listing for Tales Of A Librarian. I am not sure if this means that only the U.K. gets both versions or if Amazon.com has not updated their listings yet. (Before you pre-order it there, you might want to wait and make sure you know if the one you are ordering has or does not have the DVD!)

In other news, the Australian vendor web site chaosmusic.com has a listing for Tales Of A Librarian, and it says it will be released on November 24, 2003. (All other web sites are still saying November 17/18, 2003.) This may mean that Australia will get the release a little later than the U.K. or U.S. (Thanks Daniel Nolan.) The one and only listing for the new album at Chaosmusic.com says the version they are selling in Australia contains the DVD.

Damien Rice wins the Shortlist Music Prize; Tori one of the 'Listmakers' who chose the finalist for this prize; MTV2 will begin broadcasting their Shortlist Special on October 24, 2003
Posted Fri, Oct 10, 2003 - 8:30am ET | Music
Update: Cable TV network MTV2 will begin broadcasting their MTV2 Shortlist Special on Friday, October 24, 2003 at 8:00PM ET/PT, and then will show it again several times in late October 2003. The special will include performances from all of the artists who played the Shortlist Concert (held October 5, 2003 at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles), plus interviews with the Finalists and the Listmakers who nominated them. It is therefore possible that Tori will be part of the special, but we do not know for sure. (Thanks Maria Carullo.)

On Sunday, October 5, 2003, the 3rd annual Shortlist Music Prize was given to Irish songwriter/singer Damien Rice. The Shortlist Music Prize was first given in 2001. It honors the year's most adventurous and creative albums across all genres of music, focusing on emerging or underground artists. The prize went to Sigur Ros in 2001 and N.E.R.D. in 2002. The 2003 finalists for the Shortlist Music Prize were selected by a panel of musicians and music experts, include Tori Amos. Back when that panel released their "Long List" of around 100 nominations in late August 2003, you could see the artists selected by each "listmaker" or panel member at shortlistofmusic.com. Click to see the 8 artists that Tori herself picked for this prize. The ultimate winner of the Shortlist Music Prize, Damien Rice, was not one of the artists that Tori picked.  [Click for details...]

Billboard.com article about the Bridge Entertainment Group
Posted Thu, Oct 09, 2003 - 9:09pm ET | Articles
Billboard.com posted an article on October 9, 2003 about the Bridge Entertainment Group, the project development company conceived by Tori. The article covers most of what was in the orginal press release for the new company posted at tbentgroup.com and reported on earlier by The Dent. The end of the Billboard article reveals some new information however. It says that Tori's upcoming Atlantic best-of compilation CD/DVD Tales of a Librarian will be released on November 11, 2003. (We were earlier told November 18, 2003, so this is either a misprint or they moved up the release date!) The article also gives us a few more details about the Soundtrack to the movie Mona Lisa Smile. "The company will also be involved with the release of the Revolution Studios/Columbia Pictures film "Mona Lisa Smile," in which Amos makes a cameo. She also contributed music to the film's soundtrack, due Nov. 25 from Epic/Sony Music Soundtrax."

Tori Amos Announces A New Business Venture: The Bridge Entertainment Group; Tori will be their first client
Posted Thu, Oct 09, 2003 - 5:36am ET | Music
I was just alerted to a new web site for The Bridge Entertainment Group at tbentgroup.com.The Bridge is "an artist development company that works with musicians, labels and new artist managers to successfully deal with anything from releasing an album and creating a marketing campaign to putting together a tour." The News section of that site has a press release with the title, "Tori Amos Announces New Business Venture", which includes several interesting quotes from Tori. As stated in the press release, "The Bridge's first client will be Ms. Amos and they will be overseeing the upcoming launch of Tales of a Librarian on Atlantic Records on November 18 followed shortly thereafter by the release of the film Mona Lisa Smile for which Amos contributed to the soundtrack as well as making a cameo appearance in the movie."   [Click for details...]

Howie Day's new album "Stop All The World Now" was released on October 7, 2003
Posted Thu, Oct 09, 2003 - 2:10am ET | Music
Howie Day was Tori's opening act during the first leg of her 2002 On Scarlet's Walk Tour and the 2003 European leg of that same tour. Howie has a new album called Stop All The World Now which was released on October 7, 2003. There's also a limited edition version of the new album available which includes a DVD and a slightly different cover. During the interview portion of that DVD, Howie is wearing the dreamcatcher necklace from the On Scarlet's Walk tour. The Bio section of howieday.com mentions the new album and also has a quote from Howie about Tori. Check out all the details of the new album at howieday.com. The San Antonio Express Newspaper and quotegeek.com
Posted Tue, Oct 07, 2003 - 5:19pm ET | Sightings
The October 3, 2003 edition of the San Antonio Express newspaper included on the cover of the "Living" section a photo of Tori (from Scarlet's Walk with her hands together with the swirly shirt) and this quote from Tori, "When you stop putting yourself on the line, and you don't touch your own heart, how do you expect to touch other people?" The quote is credited to quotegeek.com. I checked out quotegeek.com and found quite a few quotes from Tori gathered at that site. Thanks to ADRIAN1974 for this information.
