Posted Thu, Apr 15, 2004 - 12:50pm ET | Music
Jim Stoddard and Steve tell me that there is a brief news item about Welcome To Sunny Florida at toriamosmusic.com, which is Tori's web site run by Epic Records. (It still has the old Scarlet's Walk theme). It does not reveal anything new, but it is there.

Tori upcoming DVD ''Welcome To Sunny Florida" covered by Billboard.com and LiveDaily.com
Posted Fri, Apr 09, 2004 - 12:45am ET | Articles
A news item posted to Billboard.com on Thursday, April 8, 2004 covers Tori's upcoming DVD/CD project Welcome To Sunny Florida. The article mainly repeats the details we already know. The only thing I read that was extra was the line that said the DVD is "augmented" by a live version of Past The Mission. Tori did perform that song during the first encore of her 2003 West Palm Beach show from which the live material from the DVD came, but it is odd that it is not listed as one of the main live tracks. Perhaps it is being used as background music for the extra features or in some other unusual way. Otherwise, all the info reported by Billboard matches what is on my Welcome To Sunny Florida Page. Thanks to marti pujolar and Peter Starski for being the first of many to alert me to this article.

See photos and read a transcript from Tori's live appearance on the TV show "On-Air with Ryan Seacrest"
Posted Tue, Apr 06, 2004 - 8:45am ET | TVRadio
image Tori appeared on the syndicated U.S. TV show "On-Air with Ryan Seacrest" on Monday, April 5, 2004. Tori performed Silent All These Years live on this show. Since the show is syndicated, the broadcast times varied for the program. I have just uploaded some screen shots from the show, and thanks to Toriphile Ellen, I have a complete transcript of the show as well! I also have 6 wonderful photos taken at a meet and greet after the show. (I meant to have the photos up around 1:00AM, but my cable modem died for a few hours!) Ryan did mention that Tori's Welcome To Sunny Florida would be released in the U.S. on May 18, 2004, which further confirms the delay in the release date I reported earlier.

Reviews of 'Mayor Of Sunset Strip' at TVGuide.com and hiponline.com
Posted Mon, Apr 05, 2004 - 12:18am ET | Miscellaneous
A review of the movie/documentary Mayor Of Sunset Strip can be found at TVGuide.com. They do mention Tori as being one of the celebrities seen in the film. "Mayor Of Sunset Strip" is a documentary about LA scenemaker and DJ Rodney Bingenheimer. It contains some brief Tori footage. (Tori was also interviewed for the film, but that was not shown in the movie.) You can read all about the film here. Thanks to Morgan for the tip.

There is another review of Mayor Of Sunset Strip at hiponline.com by Jeffrey Kroitsch, and it briefly mentions that Tori's interview does not appear in the film.

The U.S. release date for 'Welcome To Sunny Florida' will be pushed back to May 18, 2004
Posted Fri, Apr 02, 2004 - 5:24pm ET | Music
A very reliable source has informed me that the U.S. release date for Tori's live DVD/CD Welcome To Sunny Florida has been pushed back to May 18, 2004. This would of course push the U.K. and French release date to March 17, 2004. This news and all the latest about the new release can be found on the Dent's Welcome To Sunny Florida page.

Welcome To Sunny Florida is posted to Amazon.fr and fattvideos.com
Posted Fri, Apr 02, 2004 - 6:24am ET | Music
Stéphane informs me that Tori's upcoming DVD/CD released called Welcome To Sunny Florida has been posted to Amazon.fr with a release date in France of Monday, May 3, 2004. I would expect other Amazon sites to add it shortly! That would seem to support a May 3, 2004 release date for the DVD/CD in much of Europe. Welcome To Sunny Florida will be released in the U.S. on May 4, 2004. You can read all the details about the CD on the Dent's Welcome To Sunny Florida Page.

JP pointed out that there is also an entry for Welcome To Sunny Florida at fattvideos.com. They have TWO listings for the DVD/CD. The descriptions for the two are the same, but one says it comes in a jewel case and the other in an Amaray box. We will have to wait and see...

I do not know the details about this, but it sounds interesting!

The movie "Mayor Of Sunset Strip" is released nationally this Spring in the U.S.
Posted Thu, Mar 18, 2004 - 5:37pm ET | Miscellaneous
The film "Mayor Of Sunset Strip" is a documentary about LA scenemaker and DJ Rodney Bingenheimer. It contains some brief Tori footage. (Tori was interviewed for the film, but they do not show any of the interview.) Justin, Jenn, and Jessica Ritchie tell me that the film will be released nationally in the U.S. this Spring 2004. Some say the release date will be March 26, 2004, while others say it will only open in L.A. and New York City on March 26 and will open elsewhere on April 9, 2004. I have no idea how many places will show this film or how easy it will be to find once it is out there. The Tori content is very minor, but I heard the documentary overall is well made. You can read more about "Mayor Of Sunset Strip" here.

Additional comments about Tori's upcoming DVD/CD
Posted Tue, Mar 16, 2004 - 5:01pm ET | Music
Terry informed me that on March 16, 2004, musictap.net posted another tidbit about Tori's upcoming DVD/CD:
We mentioned earlier that Epic has a Tori Amos DVD in store for May 4. How about a little sweetener to go with that news? Ok..Epic will also release a CD album of the same title, Welcome to Sunny Florida, also on the same day. It looks like it may be an EP and might accompany the DVD as a bonus but the details are kind of sketchy at the moment.

Also, Matt Chamberlain mentions the DVD on his web site. From this we see that Loren Haynes was involved with the making of the live DVD. (Thanks Brett.)
