Listen to Tori's late 2003 interview with Tom Robinson
Posted Sat, Mar 13, 2004 - 6:39am ET | TVRadio
DJ Tom Robinson in the U.K. interviewed Tori in late 2003, and that interview was broadcast on his radio program called The Evening Sequence on New Years Eve (December 31, 2003) on 6Music in the U.K., which is a BBC radio network. You can now listen to that interview in streaming audio at the BBC 6 Music web site. Thanks to Deborah and Peter Stevens for telling me about this.

Scandinavian based cdon.com says a new album from Tori called "Live - The Scarlet Sessions" will be released in Europe on May 5, 2004! They also have a listing for a new DVD as well!
Posted Fri, Mar 12, 2004 - 5:47pm ET | Music
Scandinavian online vendor cdon.com has two new Tori Amos entries that clearly seem to indicate that there will be both a new CD of live material and a DVD of live performances released this Spring. (Click to go to the site and then search on 'Tori Amos' to find the listings.) They have these future releases listed as separate entries. First of all, they have a listing for a new album by Tori called "Live - The Scarlet Sessions", which they say will be available on May 5, 2004. Secondly, they have a listing for new DVD called The Scarlet Sessions which they also say will be available on May 5, 2004. This is most assuredly the same DVD that Musictap.net told us about on March 11, 2004, when they claimed there would be a new DVD from Tori released in the U.S. on May 4, 2004 called "Welcome to Sunny Florida". These two sources do not agree on the name of the DVD, and I do question the May 5, 2004 date. (I think May 3 or 4, 2004 is more likely), but all these sources make it clear something new is coming in both CD and DVD form! Thanks to Katja L. and Kel for telling me about this.
Musictap.net announces that Epic will release a Tori DVD called "Welcome to Sunny Florida" on May 4, 2004.
Posted Fri, Mar 12, 2004 - 4:05am ET | Music
Musictap.net added the following information to their site on March 11, 2004:
Epic Records will release a Tori Amos DVD called Welcome to Sunny Florida on May 4. More details to follow.
So it looks like we will get something new from Tori this year! A new release makes a lot of sense, since Tori will be on the TV show "On-Air with Ryan Seacrest" on April 5, 2004, and this will give her something to promote. I have no additional details about the release. There are rumors floating around that this will actually be a CD/DVD release, but that has not been substantiated yet. The title would seem to imply that at least some of the footage will be from her 2003 West Palm Beach concert which was in fact taped. Many thanks to Craig, who first told me about this web site, and to John, who first told me about their latest update.

I would encourage you to read that, and if you have time check out the rest of this web site. It is good reading...
Tori's 2003 appearance on the TV show Soundstage; The Best of Soundstage-Season One DVD is available online
Posted Sat, Mar 06, 2004 - 4:30pm ET | TVRadio
You can currently order The Best of Soundstage-Season One DVD at Soundstage's Online Store. Of the 18 performances however, they only have one Tori song, which is a sorta fairytale. This is from her 2003 appearance on the show. We earlier thought there would be 2 Tori songs on this DVD, but that is not the case. Soundstage does not plan to release a DVD of Tori's entire performance on that show.

Tori Amos produced and played keyboards on a song called "Ballerina" by Leona Naess
Posted Thu, Feb 19, 2004 - 5:50pm ET | Music
I earlier reported that a trusted anonymous source confirmed that Tori had been in a Los Angeles, CA studio producing and playing keyboards on a single by artist Leona Naess. This has been completely confirmed by Leona Naess herself in her diary on leonanaess.com. (Be sure to read that Feb 18th diary entry. Leona says some interesting things about Tori!) The song is called "Ballerina". There is some confusion about the fact that Tori worked on this song, because this song is already a track on Leona's new self-titled album "Leona Naess". It appears that Leona has recorded it again with Tori, and the new version of Ballerina will be released soon as Leona's new single. The version currently on the album apparently does NOT include Tori. Tori produced and played keyboards on the new version of the song, but does not sing. (Thanks to Eric for pointing this out to me and first telling me which song Tori is on!) The fact that Tori was involved was also mentioned by drummer Matt Chamberlain on his web site. (Thanks Bryan Cody and Missy!)

No Tori-related awards given during the 46th Grammy Awards
Posted Mon, Feb 09, 2004 - 5:55am ET | Music
There were Tori-related nominations in two categories of the 46th Annual GRAMMY Awards which were presented on Sunday evening, February 8, 2003. However, none of the Tori-related nominations won.
The first nomination was for Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package, and that was for Scarlet's Walk (Dave Bett & Sheri Lee, art directors). However, the winner of that category was The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions (Julian Alexander, Howard Fritzson & Seth Rothstein, art directors (Miles Davis)).
The second nomination was for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, which is solely a remixer award. That was for Don't Make Me Come To Vegas (Timo On Tori), remixed by Martin Buttrich & Timo Maas. The winner of that categroy however was Crazy In Love (Maurice's Soul Mix) Maurice Joshua, remixer (Beyonce Featuring Jay-Z). You can see the full list of winners at Grammy.com as well as the Nominees.

The Clothesline Project
Posted Thu, Feb 05, 2004 - 3:13am ET | RAINN
Sarah made me aware of this worthwhile cause, and I wanted to mention it on The Dent. The Clothesline Project involves ceremonies where victims of abuse, be it domestic, sexual, incest, rape etc, make T-shirts that express their feelings and then at a ceremony they hang out the shirts In a sense they are "airing out their dirty laundry". Sarah tells me this is an amazing and moving ceremony to be part of. You can find out more about it at clotheslineproject.org and cybergrrl.com. This is the kind of thing that is very complementary to what RAINN does.
Tori interview from Swedish music magazine "la musik"
Posted Thu, Feb 05, 2004 - 2:36am ET | Articles
A Tori interview by James Mcnair was published in the Swedish music magazine "la musik" (Issue No: 6, 2003 - Lisa Miskovsky on the cover). This was the same interview that appeared in the November 21, 2003 edition of The Independent newspaper in the U.K. However, this version is actually longer and includes comments not made in the version of the interview appearing in The Independent. Thanks to Toriphile Krister (huginn), I have a English translation of the additional parts of the interview from the Swedish Magazine. [Click for details...]
