A password email/newsletter from The Tori Store
I earlier reported that The Tori Store, the official online place to buy Tori stuff, has been redesigned and is now located at www.thetoristore.com. The Tori Store sent out an email to previous Tori Store customers telling them about this. This email also told customers some important information about their accounts and passwords. Because of technical difficulties, some people did not get the email. So I am including the Tori Store email on The Dent so you can read it. [Click for details...]

Cover vs. Original: I Don't Like Mondays
Rob tells me that the web site, cover-vs-original.de, which compares cover songs to their original versions and gives you a chance to vote on whether you like the cover or the original best, has a new poll asking you to vote on whether you prefer the original version of I Don't Like Mondays from The Boomtown Rats, or Tori's cover of the song. The Tori Store is now at thetoristore.com and has been revamped!
Tori's official online store, The Tori Store, now has a new URL, which is www.thetoristore.com. It also has a new look, so be sure to check it out! They say that information about new holiday items being added to The Tori Store will be coming before the end of the week, so keep looking for that.P.S. The Two for One Sale I posted about earlier turned out to be a mistake and is not taking place at this time...

Update: Tori DOES appear on the Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser CD from Target!
Updated again: I have new reports from Greg Madsen, Chris Strawbridge and Jessica Slusher that tell me that Tori is indeed one of the artists on the newly released Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser CD from Target called Sound Response! However, you will not see her name on the back of the CD. The track listing there claims that track #10 is from Lenny Kravitz. However, if you open the CD and play it, you will see that Tori's A Sorta Fairytale is in fact track #10! Tori is also listed on the track listing that is inside the CD. The Tori track is from the September 4, 2003 West Palm Beach, FL concert at the Sound Advice Theatre, and was also featured on the Welcome to Sunny Florida DVD. So NOW it appears that the information at target.com is in fact correct. (This has all been so confusing!) So once again, despite the fact that Tori is not listed on the track listing on the back, she is in fact on the CD as track #10. Hopefully, they will print new copies of the CD with the correct set list on them! This fundraiser CD is a compilation of 16 live tracks from different artists. 100% of retail sales from the CD will support the relief efforts of the American Red Çross. The album is called Sound Response and is only be available at Target stores in the U.S. or online at target.com. The album was released on November 1, 2005. You can find out more about it at Target.com. [Click for details...]

A box set of all 6 official Tori Amos boolegs called "The Original Bootlegs" is coming soon
Thanks to the many people who have emailed me about this, including John B. who was first. It appears that a box set of all six official Tori Amos bootlegs will be available starting on December 6, 2005 from various online vendors. (I am not sure if you will see it in stores or not.) The box set is called The Original Bootlegs and is from Epic. You can find a listing for the box set now at Amazon.com, where you can also pre-order it. It is a 12 Disc set box set and costs $79.98 through Amazon.com, which makes it higher than if you purchase the same bootleg CDs from Toribootlegs.com. (There are other vendors that will sell this box set as well. Some claim this box set will be released on November 29, 2005, but I think the December 6, 2005 date is more valid.) This box set will consist of all 6 of the official bootlegs being offered at toribootlegs.com.

Some Tori videos listed for VH1 Classic's Pay-To-Play
Thanks to Lorna Immel for telling me about this. VH1 Classic is raising funds for MercyCorps in aiding Hurricane Katrina/Rita victims by airing Pay-to-Play Request Hours. The following Tori videos are available for "purchase" at vh1.com/paytoplay:The Big Picture (Y Kant Tori Read) Smells Like Teen Spirit (Bottom Line performance) Silent All These Years Crucify Sleeps With Butterflies Viewers wishing to participate should read the details carefully at the web site. Donors purchasing songs at certain $ levels are eligible to receive exclusive artwork by artist Peter Max for their efforts. This is a good idea for any Toriphiles who are wondering what else they can do to help raise funds for the relief efforts, which are still very much needed. RAINN and the CFC (Combined Federal Campaign)
This information comes from Amy:I am a spouse of an active duty military member. Every year we are given the chance to donate to a charity of our choosing through the CFC or Combined Federal Campaign. How this works is the military member contacts their finance office and simply asks to be enrolled they can contribute anywhere from $5.00 to how much ever they wish and its automatically deducted from each check and sent to the charity. RAINN is one of these charities... I know they are many Tori Fans serving in our military forces who want to help but may not be aware of the CFC or that RAINN is a charity they can choose to support through the program. the CFC number for RAINN is #1973. Richard Handal reminds me that ALL employees of the federal government can donate to the CFC by having money withheld from their pay, and there are many local government campaigns as well. You can read more about this at cfctoday.org. Cover vs. Original: Smells Like Teen Spirit
Michael tells me about his web site, Cover vs. Original, which compares cover songs to their original versions and gives you a chance to vote on whether you like the cover or the original best. Right now you can vote on whether you prefer the original version of Smells Like Teen Spirit from Nirvana, or Tori's cover of the song.

Tori on the Cover of the Malibu Times
Tori is on the cover of the September/October 2005 (Vol. 2 No. 5) issue of the Malibu Times, the weekly community newspaper for Malibu, CA. However, there is no real Tori article in the publication. There is an article called 'Super Natural Chic: Cutting-edge designers go green' by Kim Devore which in part talks about designer Linda Loudermilk, who sells clothes out of a store in Malibu called "Crush". The article iteself, which you can read or download as a PDF at malibutimes.com, does not mention Tori much. Check out Wears The Trousers, a new magazine for women
I have been made aware of an excellent new magazine for women called Wears The Trousers. They have already published Issue One, and the entire issue can be downloaded for free at www.thetrousers.co.uk. The people who put together this new magazine were inspired to start it after a particularly horrible review of The Beekeeper. The new magazine has Tori Amos content. There are currently three Tori-related reviews: Her show at Hammersmith with the gospel choir, her appearance at the Meltdown Festival and a 5 star review of Piece By Piece. She gets mentioned in a few other places too. All this content can be read online or in the downloaded magazine. Check it out! Also, Wears The Trousers is looking for reviewers and contributors to join the team. There is a section of the web site where you can find out how to contact them. Article on bootlegs going corporate from the Wall Street Journal mentions Tori and includes a photo
An article called Bootlegs Go Corporate: Record Companies Sell Instant Recording of Concerts in Effort to Combat Piracy by Ethan Smith was published in the September 27, 2005 edition of the Wall Street Journal. (You must have a paid subscription in order to read the article.) The photo show Tori playing the Bosey during her June 3, 2005 show at the Carling Apollo Hammersmith in London, UK. Since the article requires a subscription, I will not post the entire article on The Dent. But I have included some snippets of it that included Tori that you can now read. [Click for details...]
