I earlier reported that Sonymusic.co.uk had 30 second sound clips from all the songs on The Beekeeper. However, some people have reported difficulty in getting these to play. You can also find small clips from each song at MTV.com and BN.com as well. Thanks to the many Toriphiles who emailed me about that. (As a Macintosh user however, I was unable to get any of these Windows Media Player files to play on my Mac...)

Roxanne Rieske (Rokzane) heard that Brett Saunders from the KBCO Morning Show will be interviewing Tori (likely by phone) on radio station KBCO (97.3) in the Boulder/Denver, CO area sometime between February 22, 2005 and the end of the month. The KBCO Morning Show airs from 6:00am till about 9:30am. If we get a definite date, we will let you know.

Clarification about "An Evening With Tori Amos: Women and Music" at the 92nd Street Y in New York

Based on the email I am getting, I need to clarify something about the event "An Evening With Tori Amos: Women and Music" which takes place on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at the 92nd St Y in New York City. People who have tickets have been getting a letter that reads:
Due to logistical and technical reasons, Tori Amos will not be performing. The evening will consist of a conversation with music critic Ann Powers about Ms. Amos' extraordinary life and career.
People are getting confused and thinking that this means that Tori will NOT be at the event. This letter simply confirms what the Dent reported a few days ago. Tori WILL indeed be at the event, and will be talking with Ann Powers and taking part directly in a Q&A session. Tori will not be performing, as in playing the piano, but will be there in person to discuss her career, her new book Piece By Piece and whatever else comes up.

You can find a Tori article posted to ninemsn.com.au on Saturday, February 12, 2005. Tori talks about her new album The Beekeeper. Since this is an Australian interview, Tori addresses the idea of returning to Australia soon. The article says, "Meanwhile Amos says she's keen to visit Australia some time this year, but first has to work out how to survive the long-haul flight with her four-year-old daughter." Tori goes on to say she "adores" Down Under and says, "You know it reminds me of a dish that you wouldn't find anywhere else, with ingredients that you wouldn't find anywhere else. There is a Billboard article on Tori that Reuters posted online on February 11, 2005. It covers details about The Beekeeper, the book Tori Amos: Piece By Piece, and ends with information on Tori's tour plans:
April will bring a U.S. theater tour with Amos and just her Bosendorfer piano and a Hammond B3... A similar European tour will follow, with plans to play some festivals there in June, at which time "Piece by Piece" should be available throughout the continent. A full-scale U.S. tour is slated for summer.

Nadyne and Jim Davidson inform me that according to aetv.com, Tori will be one of the guests on the show Breakfast with the Arts which will be broadcast on the A&E TV network on Sunday, March 6, 2005 at 8:00AM ET. (The other guest is Paul McCartney.) We reported earlier that Tori would be on this show, but this is a new and confirmed date!

Tickets for "An Evening with Tori Amos" at the 92nd Street Y in New York are Sold Out

Several people have emailed me to let me know that tickets for "An Evening With Tori Amos: Women and Music", which takes place on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at the 92nd St Y in New York City, sold out this morning after just 5-10 minutes. They went on sale at 9:00AM. You were only allowed to buy the tickets by phone or in person at one of their two box offices.
The event takes place at the 92nd St Y at the Kaufmann Concert Hall located at 92nd St and Lexington Ave in New York City. The evening will consist of Tori having a conversation and Q&A with Ann Powers. However, an official source tells me that due to logistical and technical reasons, Tori will NOT be performing/singing. I hope that people who did get tickets will email the Dent after it is over and let us know how it went!

If you are having a hard time finding the book, you can order it online now for only $16.29 from Amazon.com. (If you use the Dent links you will help support this web site!) A petition asking Tori to tour in Australia in 2005

I was asked to post a link to this petition, which Australian Toriphiles can sign to ask that Tori tour in Australia in 2005. (Tori has expressed a desire to return to Australia in response to fan questioning several times over the last few years, but has made it clear that it depends on several factors, some outside her own control. The main consideration these days is her daughter's ability to travel there. I would imagine other factors like financial constraints and record company support also play a role.)

Updated: Tori's March 14th book signing at Book Soup in W. Hollywood, CA has been cancelled. (Thanks to Sara Taylor and Ian McIntosh for telling me about that.) If you still have concerns or questions, please feel free to call Book Soup. However, The Dent now has some evidence that there will be a Tower In-Store appearance by Tori in Hollywood, CA on March 14, 2005, and that this In-Store will will replace the Book Soup signing. We are waiting for official word on this, but it is a possibility! Stay tuned for details as they become available.
