KROQ Radio Interview / House Of Blues Breakfast February 9, 1996 Tori was promoting Boys For Pele really heavily in early February! She was heard on three Los Angeles radio stations on February 9, 1996. One was with Kevin & Bean on KROQ radio in Los Angeles at the House of Blues. You can hear the interview on a CD that was released in 1997 called Tori Amos: The Interview Sessions on Chatback Records. Toriphile Dolll was at this event and took some photos. Photo One can be seen above and there are links to the other two below. |

The Tonight Show With Jay Leno February 8, 1996 Tori appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on February 8, 1996 and sang Caught A Lite Sneeze. Jay congratulated Tori during their brief talk for debuting at #2 on the US Billboard Album chart with Boys For Pele. They also talked about writing songs in the bathroom and the meaning behind the "interesting" photos in the Boys For Pele CD booklet! See some photos from Tori's appearance on Leno in February 1996. |

WDRE/WLIR Radio Interview February 5, 1996
The call letters of this radio station have caused some confusion. Toriphile Woj helped clear up the confusion in a posting to the Precious Things mailing list: "wlir was a good radio station on long island -- they were one of the first stations to get into what eventually turned into the "modern rock" format. eventually, they got slick and, sometime along the way, turned into wdre. more recently, in what was probably a marketing move, they changed their call letters back to wlir. the wdre call letters were retained for a translator station farther out on the island." WNEW Radio Interview February 5, 1996 Tori did a radio interview for WNEW (102.7FM) in New York on February 5, 1996. I don't have any details on this interview, other than it was not as spontaneous and fun as the other one she did that morning on WDRE. (See above.) Also, Tori did sing a special intro to "Sugar" during this radio interview that turned out to be a portion of the song "Never Seen Blue" that was released 2 years later in September 1998 as a b-side to the Jackie's Strength's single. |
CBS This Morning February 5, 1996
Tori appeared briefly on CBS This Morning. There was a short interview ("I'm a composer first...") and she sang part of Doughnut Song. |
Modern Rock Live February 4, 1996 You can read this radio interview at the Fairy Tales web site. After you get there, scroll down and find Modern Rock Live in the list of articles. "For Mark"It was during this interview that Tori sang the improvised song "For Mark." (The transcript from the show that I link to above erroneously calls the song "From Mark.") Here is a rough guess at the lyrics from Toriphile Gillian: "She needs to sleep like the ocean. She needs to dream like that boy in the stratum. Don't know what he's about, but I'm sure he knows one of (?). I need to be in this body. I need to breathe. I need...no...I need but one, and it's gonna be like it never was. He's got girls on his fingers. Little doe eyes making ringers ring off the phone. Tell her you know what she's been thinking cos I need only one, only one sugar. I said, "You're gonna see I'm ready to be just with the one, with the blue, blue motions emotions (or 'notions of motions.')" Caren addes the following: I was just reading the lyrics to the song "For Mark" and I have a lyric to add. The part that your are unclear about (where you've put a question mark) goes "I'm sure he knows one-armed sports". |
