LizziesUpdated January 18, 1998 |
![]() The first thing that popped into my mind when I first heard the song Father Lucifer from Boys For Pele was, "What the heck are Lizzies?" I currently have six definitions. The best defintion appears to be used in a book by Barbara Marciniak called Bringers Of The Dawn. According to the Amazon web site While reading "Bringers of the Dawn" by Barbara Marciniak, I came across a few very very interesting things. And i'm only on page 39, hehe. Anyway, I found a wonderful insight into Tori stuff here. As you know, Tori has read this book and has mentioned it before in interviews. Well, here is the Tori thing, from page 31 (the first mentioning of the Lizzies appears on this page, btw): "... Be kind when you speak of the forces of darkness. Do not speak as if they are bad. Simply understand that they are *uninformed*, and they create systems that are uninformed because that is how they believe they must operate. They fought at one time and separated themselves from knowledge, so now they desperately hold onto their existing knowledge and onto life as they have evolved into being. It is life based on fear, life that does not honor other life, life that uses other life. Who are these beings? They are the reptiles. These space creatures are part human and part reptilian. We call the the Lizzies because we like to make things a little less emotional and a little humorous so that you don't take them so seriously and get do upset. We are not here to frighten you - we are here to inform you. You know all of this inside you, and as you begin to open the history of who you are, some of you will begin to access reptilian memories." The Lizzies feed off our pain and turmoil, they need that energy. They represent what Christians call "Lucifer." ![]() The second is a recipe I found online for Christmas Lizzies that involves pineapple, cherries, raisins or dates, and pecans. You can find the recipe here. ![]() ![]() The third definition comes to me from Sara Gray: I know of another definition to "Lizzies"--Model T Fords used to be called Tin Lizzies. Doesn't make much sense in Tori context, because j'ason's explanation is a lot better. ![]() The fourth definition comes to me from Bob Jenkins: Lizzies in the "OXFORD DICTIONARY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE" (a 24 volume reference) has another definition: "LIZZIES: an effeminate young man, feminine mannerisms, apparel" Since Tori spends a lot of time in England, this is considerred"BRITISH SLANG". Also the line from C.A.L.S."BOYS IN THEIR DRESSES" may be a connection of some kind too. Maybe a Neil Gaiman thing since his cartoons often depict kinky kinds of people. So it may be cryptic as well as referencial. Just a thought. ![]() The fifth definition comes to me from Mike Goldman: Also, WRT "Lizzies," my original thought had been of the rhyme: "Lizzie Borden took an axe / And gave her father 40 whacks / When she saw that she was done / She gave her mother 41" I think your first explanation of "Lizzies" is better than this, but just thought you might be interested. ![]() The sixth and most bizarre definition comes to me from Benjamin Mobley. Ben found references to Lizzies in some writings by John Winston ![]() |
