A less than favorable review of the Spark video appeared in the July 10, 1998 issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. Thanks to Ciccone4 for sending this to me.

The article, written by Jim Farber, had the familiar photo of Tori, standing, blindfolded, wading in the water:
"SPARK", Tori Amos. Amos ssumes the role she was born
to play: victim. Blind-folded, with her hands tied
behind her back, and left in a forest to rot, she
writhes and stumbles hopelessly. The dank
cinematography has nightmare resonace, but the singer
only winds up seeming self-righteous, and the result
makes the music sound like a self-indulgent.
