The following was written and send to me by Scotto. Greetings,
I am pleased to announce the launch of Adventures in Radio, an Internet radio station offering a crazy and eclectic mix of tunes in streaming MP3 for your listening enjoyment. You can find it at http://www.slammedia.com/music/ .
...The reason I thought you might find the Adventures in Radio station interesting is that I have been a HUGE Tori fan for years and years, and now that I'm programming Internet radio, I'm taking the opportunity to program a huge amount of her music into the mix. The entire premise of the Adventures in Radio station is that it is a genre-busting megamix of songs that spans a rather wide range of modern music, and included in that megamix are songs from all periods of Tori's career, including a ton of B-sides, remixes, and so on.
I first saw Tori in Chicago at the Vic Theatre; it was the first time I had ever heard the song "Flying Dutchman," which she played at the request of one particular fan who kept shouting "play Flying Dutchman!" throughout the entire show. I completely fell in love with that song, and found it on a single the next day. Later that tour she released that exact performance of the song as one of the "Past The Mission" B-sides... I eventually managed to see Tori six more times. Listening to her music has been an inspiration for me for a long time. It's a lot of fun picking Tori songs for the megamix station, and that's why I thought I would mention it to you...
So far, people are really enjoying Adventures in Radio. We're playing a wide range of modern & old school rock, pop, techno, trip hop, and more: Tori Amos, Peter Gabriel, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Moxy Fruvous, Afro Celt Sound System, Lauryn Hill, Parliament/Funkadelic, TMBG, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Miles Davis, Bjork, Erik B. & Rakim, the Orb, UNKLE, Cibo Matto, the Art of Noise, FSOL, Portishead, Woob, Bill Laswell & his thousands of projects, practically the whole Ninja Tunes catalog, and a lot more. Much of it is music you'll probably recognize, but scattered all throughout the mix are a lot of unexpected tracks from some unexpected places.
It's very much been a labor of love to get this station online. I do hope you enjoy it; give us a listen, and let us know what you think!
Thanks muchly, |
