Tonight's show was very emotional, and Tori told people at the meet and greet that it was a show that would be deciated to the first female American soldier killed in the Iraq war, whose name was Lori Ann Piestewa. The set list included New Age, an incredible Roadside Cafe which included the following solo songs: Graveyard, Not The Red Baron, Butterfly, and Seaside. She ended the show with a three song second encore that included 1000 Oceans and Baker Baker (solo). If you were at the Boise, ID show, please email me with your reviews and/or set list or post your review or comments in the Dent's Concert Reviews forum. From Matt Page and John:

Matt said this show was his favorite of the tour so far. It was an incredible show with many amazing songs on the set list. Tori told people at the meet and greet that this show would be dedicated to the first female American soldier killed in the Iraq war, whose name was Lori Ann Piestewa. It was a "her" show, with Tori singing about "her" several times. At one point she did an improv that included the lyrics, "We will be strong for her..." During Graveyard Tori sang, "We're going to her graveyard." This was the first time on the Scarlet's Walk that Tori has performed Graveyard. During Bells For Her, after the piano bridge, Tori inserted an improv about the female soldier again.

John tells me the show was incredibly emotional, and that Butterfly was simply amazing. This was the first time in the U.S. that Tori has performed that song. Tori was roaring at the end of New Age, even more than she did the last time she performed it.

Tori radically altered her plans for the first encore. She was supposed to do Father Lucifer and Another Girl's paradise according to her written set list. But she changed it to Taxi Ride and Spark.

From Willow:

I have to say this was the best Tori show I've ever seen.

Tori mentioned at the Meet'n'Greet that this would be a special show because of the Hopi woman who had just died in the war.

Right from the beginning I could sense the intensity that Tori had in all the songs. The theme that ran though all the songs was loss/death, feminine and sand/desert. Interspersed in the "I can't reach you" lyrics in 'Little Earthquakes' were in lines "Though I feel you in my hands/ Trapped beneath the sand/ ?red white and blue?"

She spoke with the crowd only once to tell us that she had a love affair with potatoes, but she shouldn't because they were carbs.

The improv that lead into 'Graveyard' went something like "We will be strong for her/ Vigilant Hopi/ until the pieces are in her mother's hands." It was quite a lengthy intro and was gorgeous.

I'm usually very stoic. I love Tori and her songs mean so much to me, but I try to refrain from crying in public, but tonight the feelings were way too strong, especially in the Roadside Cafe. I cried like a baby when she got to the end of 'Graveyard' and sang "We're going to her graveyard to sing her to sleep now." She changed all the pronouns in this song to feminine pronouns. Tori obviously wanted to give this woman's spirit a proper send off. It was beautiful.

'Seaside' was so amazingly perfect for the situation and I can't help thinking that it was this woman's song.

Throughout the show, the lyrics suddenly found new meanings for me due to the recent events, all the songs seemed to relate to this Hopi soldier in some way.

'Baker, Baker' seemed exceptionally sad and ended the show perfectly.

This performance was beautiful beyond compare. There was a deepness, in emotion and thought and compassion that I've never seen at any other show.

From Shauna:

I have never written a review for the dent, but always read the wonderful words written about tori and her shows. This was my 13th tori show (the third this tour) and i have to agree with everyone that was there, this was one of the most powerful, emotional shows†I have ever†been to.††I drove from Salt Lake to be there†and am so†glad†I did.††Right off the bat Little Earthquakes was very†powerful and Bells For Her was so beautiful. During the†roadside cafe,†I could not hold back the tears, it was absoluely increadible.††At times†I was so tense†I†had to remind myself to breathe. The thread of sand, desert, and heart†ache played itself over and over during many of the songs. It was a wonderful show and an amazing experience.††Tori was so intense and I know†I wasn't†the only one that left the show†totally floored†and overcome†with emotion -†it was†an unforgetable†night. Tori, as usual, was right†on.

From Jeana Hancock:

I just recently moved to Boise, and had not enjoyed a show at the Morrison Center. I must say it was the perfect backdrop for Tori. the acoustics were excellent. I really enjoy seeing her and the band progress each tour and become more comfortable with each other. It amazes me each time I see her how she captures the crowd. A true Goddess!! Once again magic was made. Thank-you Tori. My sister and I left in tears "Baker, Baker" just sending us over the edge. After such a beautiful show you couldn't help but cry. The only complaint I did have was that the audience was extremely quiet I felt Tori deserved more.
