Matt and John really liked the show. Tori really seems to love Madison, and that was reflected in her mood tonight. She was happy and smiling quite a bit. Tori did Black Swan tonight solo, and Matt thought it was the best Black Swan he has ever heard. Tori's written set list matched what she actually performed completely.

At one point Tori said to the audience, "In case you are wondering who that screaming child was, she was mine." Then Tori did a cute improv about Tash asking Tori for candy a Starbucks and Tori saying something like, "You can't say Starbucks in Madison" and Tash saying that she did not care where Tori went as long as she got her candy.

it turned out to be a terribly cold and rainy day in madison so the meet and greet was unfortunately canceled. thanks to everyone in line near me though for making the day go by quickly and for sharing stories and hot coffee.

tori was on fire tonight and the music poured out of her as a result.

her siren was so powerful that i would have had to sit down if i hadn't been sitting already.

it was my first time to hear tombigbee live which was very cool -- she really pounded it out.

tori seemed to be so happy, even after we heard a squeal out of tash backstage. tori responded to the cry by saying, "in case you're wondering if that screaming child has a mommy, she's here (pointing at herself)."

in the first encore liquid diamonds absolutely blew me away. (my favorites are the ones where tori stretches out the lyrics like taffy.)

i'm wiped out so will just add that overall it was another incredible show.

just thought i'd add to the post on what tori was wearing. the dress was actually peacock feathers. don't know if they were real or not but it was very glamorous. when she sang the lyric, "a lilac mess in your prom dress" from liquid diamonds she pulled on her purple sleeve in a very charming gesture.

i also remembered that during father lucifer she made a definitive point of holding up her middle finger during the line "and girls that eat pizza never gain weight". there are a lot of ways to interpret that i guess.

I wish I could remember the exact words to Tori's "Cheeky Monkey" improv song about her daughter. In case you haven't heard all about it, it went something like this:

We were in the 12th row center (about) and heard a child screaming a little offstage and thought "hmmmm". So, Tori said (paraphrasing) "In case you were wondering, that child does have a mother and she's here (tapping and indicating herself)". Then she just seamlessly launched into what we are calling the "cheeky monkey" song, because it was all about "she's being such a cheeky monkey today" which she repeated like a refrain. Some of the lyrics were, "mommy has to go to Starbucks to get her coffee" and "shhhhhh. you can't say that word here (whispered / crowd laughed and applauded)" and "I don't care where you get your coffee or tea, mommy, just bring me something sweet" and "we went to the museum and looked at some things", followed by more cheeky monkey phrases. It was freakin hilarious! I wish I could remember more, but my friend and I were laughing too much.

What a fantastic concert. Tori was in full Tori-dress, with sheer taffeta-like purple sweeping up one breast and down the right arm and green on the other arm, with the dress being some sort of grass or leaves-like green substance and some kick-butt big black boots and a big shiny/chunky necklace.

She also mentioned that this was the venue where she got really sick one time and had to cut the concert really short and be taken to the hospital. She attributed it to eating half a jar, and then saying "ok, a WHOLE jar" of peanut butter before the show and telling this "guy" that she liked him. "I was a little nervous, ok?" & "It's okay, we're married now..." The way she put it was very new-mommy like -- "This is the place where I pooped". Ha!

Some tears, some laughter, many grooves and lotsa percussion and it lasted almost 2 1/2 hours!

Madison loves Tori and apparently, Tori really loves Madison, too! She was in great mood & form throughout the almost 2 1/2 hour show. Her ?Cheeky Monkey? improv. after Tash?s yelp from backstage was so fun & got the crowd laughing hysterically! I was especially touched by the story about the jar of peanut butter that Tori said she had consumed before a previous Madison show combined with the same-day revelation of her true feelings for Mark which ended up sending her to the hospital. She?s so real and human!

I was especially impressed with her choice and rendition of ?Abraham, Martin and John?. It was SO powerful and moving given what?s happening in the World right now. When I talked with Tori at the Borders signing in Chicago last November, she told my co-worker Carolyn and I that she was concerned with future generations not knowing about the past, and knowledge and wisdom being lost forever [actually, she alluded to the Native American concept of the present generations? actions affecting the next seven generations]. She is doing her part to educate about and preserve a heritage. After the great show in Madison, Tori remains one of the most honest and concerned performers of our time.

I wanted to mention that after the show, I had an altercation with a young male who was spouting homophobic and anti-lesbian crap because he had noticed two women kissing and hugging. I felt compelled to let him know that that kind of hateful language wasn?t appreciated, nor supported by me with silence. This kind of baiting is so wrong, especially just after seeing Tori! Please standup for your gay, lesbian, bi and trans. brothers and sisters; don?t you think that?s what Tori would do?
