From Richard G.:

Tori was supposed to play Doughnut Song during this show, but did Tear In Your Hand instead. The first half of the show was excellent, with Indian Summer, Past The Mission, and Little Earthquakes being highlights.

She did not perform the last part of Indian Summer. She told the crowd that she was glad to be back in Germany and playing outside, which is one of her favorite places to be. She also said she has gotten lots of suggestions for covers, and would try to get to some of them before she does her last show in Germany.

From Eric (with a 'c'):

Tori's Hamburg shows are usually quite remarkable and tonight was not exception to this rule.
(One specific example from the past is the show that Tori talks about in the 'Piece by Piece' book, with the reference to 'Kali'. At that wonderful show - http://www.thedent.com/scarlet41.html -, Tori played the Dion cover 'Abraham, Martin and John' for the first time, most likely in response to the pre-Iraq-war situation and the discussion between European political leaders and U.S. president George Bush.)

Today's show again included a George Bush reference - but first things first...

There was a brief Meet and Greet today, for which the rule 'no signing and no pictures with Tori' had been given out. This worked very well.

Since it was an outdoor show, we were all able to hear the soundcheck.

I remember that Tori soundchecked (a.o.) short parts of 'Indian Summer', 'Little Earthquakes', 'Past The Mission', 'Crucify' and the cover 'You're No Good'.

The show was not only open-air, but also general admission without any seats - coming early almost guaranteed a spot in one of the first rows after several hours standing in the heat of this German summer day.

Tori started her show almost exactly at 8pm and finished about 5 minutes before the 'open-air deadline' of 10pm.

This was tonight's setlist (P - Piano, O - Organ, E - Electric Piano):

Original Sinsuality (P)
Crucify (P/O)
Father Lucifer (P)
Indian Summer (P) with very nice Intro part
Past The Mission (P/O)
Little Earthquakes (P)
Bells For Her (E)

You're No Good (P) Linda Ronstadt Cover
Tequila Sunrise (P) Eagles Cover

Jamaica Inn (P/O)
Cooling (P)
Sweet The Sting (P)
Cool On Your Island (E)
The Beekeeper (O)

Liquid Diamonds (P) with new Intro and ending part
Tear In Your Hand (P)

The Power Of Orange Knickers (P)
Putting The Damage On (P)

Instead of 'Tear In Your Hand' the printed setlist indicated 'Doughnut Song'. On my copy, however, 'Donut' has already been replaced by 'Tear' in handwriting - so this was probably a late change, but not completely spontaneous.

The George Bush reference was of course in the line 'Can you Mr. Bush light the sage' in the song 'Indian Summer'.

In her 'Hello' part after 'Crucify', Tori acknowledged that this was her first show in Germany on this tour. She said she had received numerous requests and that she would aim at getting some of them in before she leaves the country again (after five shows...)- and that some might already show up tonight.

Before the cover 'You're No Good' Tori said that this would be for a girl that they were all rooting for because she finally got rid of this guy (described as 'f***head'...), who was really not good for her. Tori also said that this guy would marry now (somebody else) and that she would wish him good luck because he would need it.

Tori had almost started the song when she briefly stopped again and said something like this (edited version...): "Husband, this is not for you. You are not like this..."

'Indian Summer' was one of my highlights of the show. It fit very well on a hot summer night in Hamburg.

'Little Earthquakes' was extremely strong and powerful. Tori hit the high notes during the most intense part very well.

The covers were nicely balanced between the slightly 'jazzy' 'You're No Good' and the more harmoniously flowing 'Tequila Sunrise'.

'Cooling' will always remain to be my favorite song ever - and I will always be happy when it becomes part of any show. Tonight, it was again brilliant and Tori really took her time during the final 'this is cooling' part and celebrated the beauty of the song.

'Sweet The Sting' seems to become nicer every time I hear it. Very enjoyable - and much different from the album version.

'Liquid Diamonds' had a new dress on. It started with a long introduction that features phrases like 'Saturday - get it right today...' (or something very similar). This came back again close to the ending of the song. Very nice!

I am very happy with this tour. The flexibility of the solo performances, Tori's intensity, her positive energy and the flow of the songs turn this into another wonderful journey.

From Christoph:

The show began quite energetic, with Tori in a good and talkative mood. Before the Linda Ronstadt cover, she mentioned that it is a song about the kind of guys girls should stay away from (she used a word beginning with the sixth letter of the alphabet for those guys), and a couple of moments later made a rather flattering (or something like that) remark about her Husband which I won't be quoting here.

Towards the end of the show, there seemed to be a little less energy in the show, especially right before the encores. But why shouldn't Tori - just like everybody else - feel a little exhausted by the warm weather here? Altogether, this evening was a good experience, a nice show.

As for the sound, for most of the show it was good, with a few places where it sounded a little weird (slightly distorted), but I think this was more due to "features" of the venue than anything the sound guys could have done much against.

From Udo Lorenzen:

Wow, this has been my second Tori-concert and it was unbelievable great!

She looked very nice in her somewhat flamenco-like dress and seemed to be in a good mood.

The stelistwas exactly written for me, hehe, since it featured my allt ime favourite songs "Little earthquakes", "Father lucifer" and "Crucify". Especially "Crucify" was very powerfull in its solo-version and so was "Earthquakes"

Sadly I didnt know any of the Cover-songs (She did not play my wish "No surprises" by Radiohead).

I was also surprised that she only played four songs from the new album, including astunning live-version of"The Beekeeper" which I always switchon the record. Liked it better a lot being played live.

By the way, Tom McRae wasWAYSbetter than her last European act Howie day which I already had to bare duringHeather Nova gigs.
