From Matt Page and Richard G.:

Tonight's show seemed extra special and was a real highlight for Matt. (It will also be his last European show of this tour.) Tori's voice was in fantastic shape tonight. She was nailing the notes on Yes, Anastasia and Crucify, sometimes in ways Matt has not heard in a long time!

Before her piano bar section, Tori said she has gotten a lot of requests, but was going to sing two songs that she loves, and that they will be her love letters to France. Then she did Lovesong and Purple Rain, both debuts for this tour.

She also did an amazing Pretty Good Year. Tori said the to the French crowd about the U.S., "Pretty she is, pretty she could be..." which also got quite a reaction.

Richard, who will continue to phone in set lists to the Dent for many future shows, thought the sound tonight was excellent. Tori debuted Crucify for this tour and she added some new lyrics with words like, "I'm not going to crucify myself for my president" whch the crowd really liked.

From Stéphane Jouffroy:

Tori seemed very happy to be in Paris. She said "you delicious people" and later, during the Piano Bar" part, she said the song she had chosen among the numerous requests were "love letters" to us. Beside, she played "Snow Cherries From France"!

The acoustics were incredibly good in the hall, which is quite a large one (up to 5000 people). We could feel the bass from her piano and organs very well, and her voice sounded crystal clear too. Therefore, we could fully enjoy all she can do with her voice, from whisper to shout.

Her performance of The Cure's Love Song was just wonderful and received quite a reaction from the audience. I was very pleased to hear "Liquid Diamonds" which she doesn't play very often

I noticed that during The Beekeeper, after the second chorus, if I remember well, she made a moving reference to her brother, she sang "take this message to Michael".

From Pierre Fageolle:

Last night's show... The Voice was there, no doubt. Still, I felt like Tori was not really into it at the beginning. As if "Yes Anastasia" didn't want to be chosen that night, and tried to escape her. Tori was literally running after the song, to me. This nasty Anastasia behaved like a George Bush pom-pom girl, she didn't want to discuss with a french audience. May be Tori thought she had to force her, to show her old Europe... In that case, I hope it's been effective:-)

She had easier time with "Mother Revolution", because it was the first of a series of songs that can relate to the land... After all, we're still famous for that 1789 revolution of ours, and its symbol is a girl named Marianne. After centuries spent with kings, chosing a girl to represent french republic was not innocent. It's another side of this revolution.

Then you had "Winter", slowed down as usual. Then a brilliant performance of "Snow Cherries From France", that made me rediscover and reconsider the song. Very charming version.

"Marys Of The Sea" was another good choice for France. By the Mediterranean sea, near Marseille, there is a wild and beautiful area called "Camargue", where waters and land seem to melt. In this watercolour kingdom live wild white horses and gypsies, playing guitar at night, by the fire... Well, this is a "postcard" vision, obviously! Anyhow, the "capital" of Camargue is "Les Saintes Maries de la Mer". You see my point. Tori has a funny way to sing the words "Marie" et "mer"... It sounds more like "Mairie" (city hall) and "Mir" (the russian space station). But it's OK, cute accent.

Passed the nice stereo delay effect on "Bells For Her", we stumbled upon the Piano Bar section. Her renditions of "Lovesong" and "Purple Rain" really impressed everyone. They seemed very heart-felt. I won't be surprised if, in the future, Tori comes and spend time somewhere in France. There must be a place waiting for her here. By the sea. Brittany... could be. "Some day, some life..." as she said...

"Cars And guitars" went OK. It was more interesting than on the album, but I hardly connect to this one. "Marianne" was just great - it sounded like she really enjoyed being played that night. I'm always bedazzled how powerful its first bars are. "Marianne" enters the room, and nothing's the same anymore. She knows how to make a good first impression.

"Barons of Suburbia" went as OK as "Cars And Guitars". Good rendition, great voice... and then came a very inspired "Crucify". That song, as you may have read it on The Dent, was lately covered by a french real-tv winner called Nolwenn (who was in the audience and probably got to meet Tori after the show). Her love of Tori's work appears to be genuine, that's the more important.

The two encores were probably the best bit of the concert. Tori was at her top level and the songs she picked up were happily floating on our minds. What can you add about that?

There's only one thing that's very disturbing about Tori's concerts: the way they end. They always switch the lights on as soon as she has left the stage. Is it meant to make us feel like we suddenly wake up after a beautiful dream? I don't think it's appropriate. It's a bit like "Go home now, comply!" (to be said with Seven Of Nine voice) I'd rather have a little time to land after the flight...

From Frank:

After seeing the Brussels and the Rotterdam show from quite good seats it was time for me to sit in the back at this concert. Which was not that bad at all. Sitting in the back made me more aware of the beautiful lights and all the things besides Tori herself which makes the show the show! So my compliments to all of them who made the show look the way it looks!!!!

When it comes down to the setlist I think this one was better than the one she played in Brussels. The opening with beautiful songs as Yes, Anastacia, Mother Revolution, Winter and a beautiful SnowCherries from Francegot the French people in a good mood. They were more enthousiastic then the Dutch and the Belgian crowds. I think that is what Tori made saying the things she said about George Bush and America. The French people (me included as being a Dutch guy) loved it! So I must say it was worth traveling to Paris to see this show! Too bad that the meet and greet was delayed a bit untill 5pm so she was in quite a rush. But by playing this setlist (Liquid Diamonds!!!!!) she really made up with me!

From Melanie:

I wanted to add a few things about Paris... I think people have already told most of what happened in Paris. Yet I want to precise what she said in Crucify... She sang never going back again to crucify myself.. for any man... then she changed it to .. for ANY president... Then she changed it again to ... to crucify my land..... which had a nice echo in her Pretty good Year version of pretty it could be...

The crowd was really warm and I agree that Tori seems to like it and to like Paris.. just like she likes Italian audiences... Or is it just the clothes and shoes reputation? :)

Anyway it was really a nice emotional energetic show with a great setlist...

From Alessandro:

I've just come back from france and I want to mark this page too, only with a few personal notes. It was a really highlight show last night in paris, high power and high intensity, I've hardly ever heard and seen something like that in about 20 years of concerts.. So intense and so emotional, she sang really passionately last night, I guess ther's something magical when she performs on stage! A great setlist, she did some of my preferred, like winter, bells for her.. magical.., liquid diamonds and pretty good year. The top for me it was when she introduced her piano bar session and said something like that "...these are two of my favourites.. I've got a request, some people have asked me to do this..and this is my love letter for you guys.." ..and started with love song (thanks tori! I've made my personal request and It was a great surprise, really amazing..you caught my heart two times tonight!), beautiful the prince cover too!

I guess that the zenith is a very special place for this kind of shows, very excellent and clear sound, good organization.
