From Matt Page and Richard G.:

The covers tonight were both from Scottish bands and were a highlight of the show. Tori's voice was much stronger than it has been the last few nights, and she was once again nailing the high notes and reaching her upper range.

The official set list said that the second encore would be Sleeps With Butterflies and Hey Jupiter, but Tori did the three songs you see above instead. The show was late getting started, but Tori still did 19 songs!

Richard reports that Tori wore a peach dress and that the strong songs that most impressed him were Cars and Guitars, Cooling, Ruby Through The Looking-Glass and both covers.

From Erin:

We're just back from the show and it was absolutely amazing. The set list was just about all I could have wished for. Tori was in top form tonight in a flowing pink dress and beautiful necklace.

She said towards the beginning that she wanted to leave her husband for the audience because she likes the way the Scots talk. She didn't interact with the audience that much. It was an intense show and she was very focused with what she was doing.

From Barry John:

After getting through to Glasgow mega early I tried to walk out to the venue to see if Tori would be doing a meet and greet. But I ended up getting hopelessly lost instead, and was apparently walking about the red light district. "How appropriate" I thought. Anyway - no signed stuff or meeting the only woman who could turn me straight for me =[

Eventually got to the Armadillo, met my friends and we took our seats and Tom Macrae came on. I'd never heard him before but he was great. He gave me chills, and he didn't stay on too long either - which made me even more excited!

After a break of about 20 minutes, the lights went down and everybody clapped - the curtains opened and she was already on the stage - everybody went mental. Except for the three people sitting beside me [I think they were supposed to be at the Neil Diamond gig next door....]

I wont go into detail about every song, because this has already been longer than I thought....

Jamaica Inn was lovely - much better than the album version. played on the piano and the organ thingy [forgive me for I know I've sinned] directly behind her.

Cooling - Oh. My. God!! I wanted her to play this last time in Glasgow, but she never. This song is one of my favourites and as soon as she started playing I got butterflies. Totally beautiful.

Bells For Her - she looked like a little girl sitting at the keyboard for this one - sounded kinda like the album version - except more like doorbells. Wish I had a doorbell like that...

The two covers she did were really strong - and she pulled them off really well after saying that she might "fall on her ass". She mentioned something about London - "fuck those londoners" - or something like that. She was joking about something. Damn faulty memory.

Marianne - another favourite - very emotional - I think she wiped away a tear at the end but I couldn't be sure - I was sitting upstairs....

Mother Revolution was great - my friend [who hasn't been too impressed with The Beekeeper - he's already been punished =D] said that he really enjoyed this one.

Yes, Anastasia - again another favourite, but I think she sings this one from halfway through.

MERMAN!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh!! I adore this song and really didn't think it would get played, but it did and I nearly cried it was just so lovely. *sigh*

When she came out for the second encore she sat down and talked about being "on an island further north from here and was inspired to write this song. It always seems to come out up here, and you people always seem to get it. It must be the magic of this place". Then she launched into twinkle. She fluffed near the end and did an improv - "where are you my old friend Diana" then she went into the verse - "Last time I knew, she worked in an Abbey.."

Toast was really nice and Hey Jupiter was amazing!! She knew where the cupboards were and where the car was parked too. And three songs!! Totally blessed.

I was so chuffed that I managed to drag myself through for this show - didn't think I was gonna make it because I didn't feel too hot. But I got there and had a great time. I'm still a bit in awe of it all.

From Neil:

What an immense night! I'll keep it as short as possible but i felt numb the whole night. Chewed through half of my left gum trying to stop myself from smiling. I was in the 2nd row centre and must have looked like the grinning half wit at the front. Got some fright when the curtains opened cause the stage was in darkness and tori's flowy dress made her look like a ghost. Also credit to her for not talking too much she jad just the right amount of banter without ruining the flow of the music. It was immense honestly; had i seen that set list beforehand i would have been gutted. But they were amazing live, even the songs i don't particularly like were great. As fo the covers, well played Tori, Nothing Ever Happens sounded great (although Glasgow where was the singing along?) and Turn, it was the best travis ever sounded! She asked the crowd to call her name cause she loves our accent apparently, then she proposed to us all. She doesn't seem to know that in the UK that consitutes a verbal contract. When doing the covers she said for LA she cheats and plays stuff she knows, saying why should they get anything new. She said for us to sing along so as she didn't fall on her ass, unfortunatly we let her down but she did not let us down. The covers were great. At the end of the gig, the stage was rushed but wasn't too big a deal as when she started playing mermaid, the kids who had ran down all seemed to be lulled into a trance and they all sat down, it was hillarious. A great night had by all. Also playing for so long was well done, after starting late she did well to go on so long. Also something weird happened thru silent all these years and then stopped and done the verse again. It really was great to see (avoided saying immense again)

Quick highlight songs

The covers
Father Lucifer
Northern Lad
Marieanne
Yes Anastacia
Silent all these years
Toast
A slabbery Hey Jupiter (very emotional)

Great night in a Great Venue, wonder if she enjoyed it?

From Bruce:

I have a quote/tidbit to add to your section on the Glasgow gig...

2nd Encore, prior to Twinkle, quote from Tori -

"I started to write this while holed up on a little island north of here. I seem to play it a lot here. I think you guys understand the magic."

I thought that might interest the Toriphiles... she did not name the island in question, but I'd have a guess that she's referring to Iona (one of the small Scottish islands, and referred to in the song itself; "last time I knew she worked at an abbey in Iona." Anyway, partly conjecture, but I thought people might appreciate a little light on the origins of the track.

Also... for her Piano Bar segment, she appeared to have the sheet music with her on stage, or at least the lyrics (she was definitely turning pages and reading something!) - I thought that was a cute little touch, especially since she said she'd gone to such effort in choosing songs by Scottish artists for the gig. Hell... she even made that Travis track sound nice. That IS talent.
