From John and Matt Page:

They loved this show, even more than Grand Rapids. Tori told a little story after Sweet Sangria about visiting Niagra Falls with Tash and how Tash saw Mermaids in the falls and something about them telling Tori to buy candy for Tash. Father Lucifer keeps getting better and better everytime she plays it, and Tori really nailed the high notes during Voodoo tonight. Tori did Vincent (Starry Starry Night) and it sounded even better than in Italy earlier this year. Another Amazing show...

From AbbeyRdAMJ:

Tori played an AMAZING combination of both energetic and slow, melodic songs. She stayed true to the "classics" (Precious Things) and chose a lot of nice tunes from Scarlet's Walk. A lot of the songs, five in total, were from Under The Pink. She told us one little story about wearing the wrong type of shoes in cold Niagara Falls, but she "" had the best time ever" ". Her daughter must have really wanted some candy, because she told mother Tori that the "mermaids were talking to her, and they said she should go and get her some candy from Starbucks." It was an adorable moment. Also, the lighting effects were incredible...beautiful swirling and flashing, each color fitting the appropriate song. All in all the band sounded tight and Tori's piano performances between the Bozie and the organ were breathtaking! Show lasted 3 hours.

From PeterWilli526:

After attending two shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, I just couldn't let it end knowing that my home is just south of Buffalo. †I was able to get fabulous last-minute seats in the 11th row at Shea's, and I made the 6 and a half hour trek from my college in the Hudson Valley back to my home, and God, it was worth it. †Although the shows at Radio City were spectacular, it was also very nice to see Tori in a much smaller venue. †Complete with cushy velvety red seats, elaborate gold designs on the walls, crystal chandeliers, and softly glowing ceiling domes, Shea's was a perfect stop along Scarlet's Walk. †Rhett Miller came on stage at around 7:30. †"Am I gonna be LOOOONELY for the REST o' MYYYY LIFE?" †That song is catchy! †And he's a fun opener! †I wish him much luck! †Then, at roughly 8:30, Tori made her Wampum Prayer. †The leafy-haired laser-Tori appeared on the red curtain, and prayer said, the curtain fell to the beat of A Sorta Fairytale. †For just a few as we waited for Tori, we were with Matt and Jon who I absolutely love. ††Chin high 'n' smiling that grin of hers, Tori came out, darling as always. †And yes, I too had to resist the urge to charge at the stage and give her a hug. †She did the "Tori bow" and took to her piano. †Many others have posted song-by-song commentary, so I thought it would be fun to try the same. ††Here goes.

A Sorta Fairytale: †High and echoing, Tori chimes the first three chords of the song. †Like Radio City, the percussion, bass, and piano mix well, but I notice that with the smaller venue, there's more volume to the drums and bass, and when Tori's on her "way up north," I notice that her voice takes on a bit of an extra echo at Shea's as well. †I love the lyrics to this song. †I didn't want to put this day back, either. †

Bliss: †My favorite part of this song is the beginning. †As purple beams trace the ceiling, the bass pounds through you and the industrial percussion hisses and ticks. †Bliss of another kind, ideed. †

Sweet Sangria: †I love every part of a Tori show, lighting included. †This song has one of the cooler "laser-shows." †Reddish-yellow targetless beams shoot around the stage as Tori stands, one leg up on her piano bench, head back, waist swaying. †The stage belongs to Matt and Jon for the moment. †She grooves a bit, and now we get "Wurli-Girl." †Who tastes sangria?

------- †††After this song, Tori talks to us for a bit, and this was my reminder that yes, I'm home. †Whatever shoes she wore, they just weren't the right choice for Niagara Falls. †She asks us whether anyone saw her in those shoes. †Regardless, she had, as the previous review reports, "the best time ever." †Come back to the Buffalo area any time, Tori !! †Then she tells us an adorable story about Tash wanting candy. †Tash wanted her mom to go back to the Starbucks so they could get some candy. †Tori whispered Tash's words into the microphone. †So sweet.

Cornflake Girl: †There is instant crowd recognition upon the frantic high opening notes. †And she does the cute "purrrrr" as usual ! †Always too much fun!

Bells For Her: †This just rocks my evening. †The balance between the band and Tori is superb. †Tori really pounds out the low keys on this one. †It was great hearing something a little rare for this tour, too. †This song fits Shea's so well, somehow. †Definitely a highlight for me. †

Space Dog: †Great transition between Bells For Her and this song. †Again, Tori opens with the low notes, so vigorous, and the drums pick up speed. †The "deck the halls" just-Tori segments are gorgeous. †Great to hear this one again!

Black-Dove (January): †I swear, Tori does this again just for me. †;-) †She knows that at Radio City, I can't hold it anymore and "I just have to get to" the restroom during this song. †I can just hear her saying, "Let's try this again." †I'm so glad she fills in the blank for me. †

Wednesday: †Super playful ! †Gotta love it ! †And the spinning leaves on the backdrop work so well ! †Matt makes this song !

--------- †Roadside Cafe sign drops --------- †Tori introduces the sign and tells us that "it lights up sometimes," and again, it does. †

Merman: †Tonight's tear-jerker for me. †When she spoke to the audience after Sweet Sangria, she also mentioned the mermaids of Niagara Falls. †Again, I know I'm home. †The lyrics to this kill me, too. †So precious to me. †About eight bright white beams point at Tori now. †It's all her.

Icicle: †What I remember best about this song tonight, aside from my excitement that I get to hear it again, is that when it's over, my father turns to me and says, "She's amazing!" †That meant so much to me. †I brought my dad to the concert tonight because I knew he'd like her. †I don't really know what he was thinking up 'til this point, and Icicle definitely does it for him. †Reason number 1001 why I won't forget this concert: †My dad is with me. †

Vincent (Starry Starry Night) - I try my best to hear out the lyrics 'cause I don't know this, but I instantly know what it is when she starts singing. †Always a gift to hear something rare. †Beautiful. †And my dad recognizes it as a cover. †He tells me this in the car when we're headin' home. †

----- †Sign still down, but the band returns...

Pandora's Aquarium: †The aquatic Niagara Falls theme continues, and she really makes her way up and down the piano on this one!! †This song's so sexy!

Father Lucifer: †Right before God. †How fitting! †;-) †Nice new Wurli- revamp! †As Tori makes her way through her Wurli- verses, she stares out into the audience. †And you know how she has that way of making you think she's looking right at you??? †Well, tonight, she is looking at Orchestra Row K seat 19 at Shea's Performing Arts Center during Father Lucifer. †"Luci-girl !"

God: †More awesome lighting! †"...where you always go, when the wind blows..." †Blue beams search the audience for God. †

Virginia: †"Oooooooooooooooooooh Virginia..." †Another one that makes my night. †One o' my favorites from Scarlet's Walk, and one I didn't get to hear in NYC.

Precious Things: †Anyone else wanna stand right in front of the drums with me on this one? †The opener for the Plugged '98 Tour, this one reminds me how much I LOVE Tori's band! †Powerful, and makes me all the more happy that I am much closer to the speakers for this show.

I Can't See New York: †"I know his lips are warm..." †Every time I hear this during each show, my eyes well up. †Such a touching reminder of last year's hurt and healing. †Again, Tori really prolongs the emotion.

Iieee: †"Just say YEEEES, ya little ARSONIST!" †I'm surprised my Choirgirl Hotel CD still works. †The number of times I've blasted this through my stereo/headphones.... †And hearing this live.... †WHY IS EVERYONE SITTING??? †This verse is enough to make me want to headbang anywhere at any moment. †And I also know Tori's gonna wave her first goodbye. †'S all good, though. †I know she'll visit again. †Twice.

------- ††Encore Number One

In The Springtime of His Voodoo: †She's doing it again!! †She's looking right at me!! †And just in case she actually is, I put on the widest grin my cheeks will allow, and I mouth the words. †(Even the ones that I still have trouble with, but shhhhh....)

Tear In Your Hand: †Yay, the Encore Song!! †:) †Not wavin' goodbye just yet, though. †We know you'll come back again.

-------- †Encore Number Two

Taxi Ride: †About three weeks ago, I was sitting in a diner with a great friend of mine, another big Tori fan, and Taxi Ride comes on comes on the radio. †I'm so happy Tori's getting a little more air-play these days! †I wish this nothing but success in the months to come.

Spring Haze: †What a great way to exit !! †I must say, this is the best exit she's made out of the three shows I've seen this tour! †"Why... †Does... †It... †Always end up like this?" †I don't know, but endings like this make me wish I was close enough to another venue!! †She really belts out the final lines of this song, and "drown" goes on forever, as she drowns in the purple beams, all pointed at her. †

Lights go out, lights come on, final bows and waves, and the night's over. †To all patiently awaiting your night with Tori, I wish you nothing but safety and a spectacular evening! †It's well worth the wait!

And to The Dent: †I check you every day several times, and I'm so grateful. †I don't know of a more supportive helpful fun community. †Long live. †:)

From Kenny Butler:

This was by far the best show I've ever seen tori do! A said in one of the other reviews she had this amazing energy and "connection" I want to call it with the audience. She totally blew me away with "space dog" she was into it more than I've ever seen when she usually performs that song, banging away at the low keys and just throwing it at the audience like an atom bomb. Icicle was amazing, but I have got to say the way she did "bells for her" gave me chills, her vocals on that song were absolutely amazing and it was like tori and the song were one with each other, everyone in the audience was silent during this number and went nuts when it was over. The venue she played was also very toriesque. It had a Victorian/gothic feel to it and she looked VERY comfortable. I too saw her in Toronto ( I live here in buffalo) and she seemed much more comfortable here, very at ease. May I add too that In my opinion from the other shows I've seen her do I have NEVER heard her vocals so amazing in my life, she hit every note she wanted to like it was nothing, she glided through the set with ease and it was electrifying. Anyone who missed this show missed a treat that I feel privileged to attend. Thank you TORI for blowing me away, I was touched.
