Details about the interview

Tori talked to Dennis Miller for about 8 minutes but did not perform. They talked about her new album the Beekeeper and the way she plays the piano. Tori says her "Republican" dad thinks the way she plays piano can be obscene while she sees it as an expression of passion. They also talked about her book with critic Ann Powers. Tori got into the fact that you do not have to be proficient at singing or music to make it in the music business anymore, and how some people "suck their way to the top, but not with a microphone".

Tori also mentioned when she was younger she was always somebody's friend and found that the guys she wanted always wanted the girl she was with. Now that she is 40, she feels better about herself, and even Tash says, "Mummy, I think you're growing younger..."

Tori said being a mom has changed how she looks at things, and that her music reflects the fact that she is not as self-absorbed as she used to be, but is looking outward more.

Tori said she told her dad, "I know you want the Democrats out of your bank account, but I want the republicans out of my bedroom."
