Tori Amos lines up April theater jaunt

Singer/songwriter Tori Amos (bio | tickets | CDs - DVDs - books) is set to support her forthcoming ninth album, "The Beekeeper," with a month-long, 14-city tour that opens April 1.

The trek, dub the "Original Sinsuality" tour, will feature Amos alone, playing piano and a Hammond B3 organ without a backing band.

"The Beekeeper," on which a Hammond B3 is a dominant presence, is scheduled to hit stores Tuesday (2/22). Amos self-produced the album in her U.K. studio, working with her longtime partners, drummer Matt Chamberlain and bassist Jon Evans.

Amos' previous release, the best-of compilation "Tales of a Librarian," surfaced in late 2003. The two-disc album features 20 tracks, including two new songs. Last May, she released "Welcome to Sunny Florida," her first official concert DVD, which was packaged with "Scarlet's Hidden Treasures," a six-song CD of previously unreleased songs.

Meanwhile, Amos' first book--"Tori Amos: Piece by Piece," co-written by music journalist Ann Powers--is now in stores. The book is billed as a "rare inside look into many intimacies of [Amos'] life as both a private individual and a very public performing musician." Amos plans to embark on a book tour in March; details are posted at her official website.

Amos is scheduled to appear Thursday (2/17) on CBS-TV's "Late Night with David Letterman," and Feb. 22 on "Live with Regis and Kelly."
