More Details

Keep in mind I only place on The Dent a small selection of sightings I receive, due to space and time constraints...

"Hear Tori Amos Play" by Tabitha Monet

Andrew Davis and nick ellingsworth report:
At Amazon.com, you can download a free Mp3 of a song called Hear Tori Amos Play by an artist named Tabitha Monet, who is a singer/songwriter from Houston, Texas. This is one of the songs from her 2004 album called Adventures of Me and Me.

Jem - The Complete 1st & 2nd Seasons DVD

Baj reports:
A couple months ago the cartoon Jem season 1 and 2 were released on box set. Samantha Newark who was the voice for Jem is interviewed in the special features, and she mentions Tori Amos as her inspirtation behind her own musical endeavours after fininshing work on Jem. Jem made us dream of beings rockstars, and Tori Amos in a way made Jem herself dream of being a rockstar. Thought it was cute and worth a mention!

Gothic-themed music?

Laura Heywood reports:
There is an article about the iPod that was posted to campus-technology.com and which appeared in the November 1, 2004 issue of Campus Technology magazine. The article takes a look at iPods are being used as learning tools at college campuses. There is a side article about a professor named "iRob" Viau, who created an iPod playlist for his honors classes on Utopian/ Dystopian Studies and The Gothic Imagination. He placed on the iPod songs he felt were examples of Gothic-themed music, and one of songs was Crucify by Tori Amos! Follow the link to read the entire article.

Cradle Of Filth

Susan reports:
In the Fall 2004 edition of PIT magazine there is a tori mention. It's in the Cradle of Filth article. They said they looked into Tori for vocals on their newest album, but there were too many time constraints and they counldn't get her. Apparently a lot of the guys are into Tori. They also mentioned her cover of Raining Blood.

Kevyn Aucoin's Makeup Products

Christy reports:
Kevyn Aucoin's makeup line was released earlier in 2004. Two of his lipstick colours are called Talula (a coral red) and Bloodroses (a, ahem, blood red :-) There are also glosses (Alurabliss, Datura, Molasses, Icicle). Knowing how close Tori was to Kevin, I'm glad that her songs were an inspiration for the names of his cosmetics. You can find these items for sale here.

The band Shiseido Red

emma jones reports:
just writing to inform you of a new band i have come across who take their name from muhammed my friend, calling themselves shiseido red. i came across them playing in london and have interviewed lead singer paul diello who is a huge tori fan and takes lots of inspiration from her in his own song writing. They are a truly talented band and their website is shiseidored.com.

The Armed Forces Network and self breast exams

Katie Edge reports:
I thought you might like to know that the Armed Forces Network uses the the first part of thesong Mother on one of their commercials for self breast exams. They show some old lady's hands playing a piano, but they couldn't fool me.
