Tori Amos Suns Herself On New DVD
Get ready for some serious piano molesting -- Tori Amos is planning to release a concert DVD along with a CD of unreleased material this spring.
The DVD, Welcome To Sunny Florida, was filmed last September during a concert Amos did in West Palm Beach during the tour for her most recent album, Scarlet's Walk. The DVD features 17 performances as well as standard DVD bonuses like a full-length interview, behind the scenes stuff and a tour yearbook including photos and some audio.
Also included with the DVD is a CD called Scarlet's Hidden Treasures, which includes six unreleased tracks. Judging by the title, the songs are probably tracks that she recorded during the Scarlet's Walk sessions that didn't make the final cut. The new songs are "Ruby Through The Looking-Glass," "Seaside," "Bug A Martini," "Apollo's Frock," "Tombigbee" and "Indian Summer."
Although Amos hasn't released a new album since 2002's Scarlet Walk, she has continued to feed her fans new material in small doses. In addition to the upcoming DVD release, she released Tales Of A Librarian, a greatest hits compilation late last year. The collection includes some refurbished versions of old favourites, two new songs, two rare songs and a limited addition DVD with pictures and live clips.
Welcome To Florida is scheduled to hit stores on May 18, but if you can't wait that long to get your next Tori Amos fix, you can catch her on the big screen. Amos as well as artists such as Beck and Alice Cooper make appearances in "Mayor Of The Sunset Strip," a documentary detailing the life of Los Angeles DJ Rodney Bingenheimer.
