THOUGHTS OF A LIBRARIAN
A MUSICALLY PUNCTUATED CONVERSATION WITH
TORI AMOS
MODERATED BY LUCY O'BRIEN
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 18, 2003 @ 2000
SHAW THEATRE, EUSTON ROAD, LONDON NW1
Tori Amos will host a unique event at the Shaw Theatre in London on Tuesday November 18 to mark the launch of her first ever compilation, Tales Of A Librarian, which will be released through eastwest/Atlantic Records on November 17. The Thoughts Of A Librarian event is a musically punctuated conversation with Tori Amos, moderated by the author and music journalist Lucy O'Brien.
There are a very limited number of tickets available for this event. Tickets are limited to two per personal application at the Shaw Theatre and will go on sale at 10:00 on the morning of the event. Tickets are priced 17.50 each (cash only). At the time of purchase, ticket buyers will receive wristbands that will be exchanged for tickets on entry to the Shaw Theatre.
Other events to mark the UK release of Tales Of A Librarian include an appearance at Borders on Oxford Street, London, on Wednesday November 19 at 1830, when Tori Amos will sign copies of the new album. On Monday November 17, Amos will appear on the Channel 4 TV show 'V Graham Norton'. And from Monday November 10, the free download-only single 'Mary' is available from www.toriamos.com and other selected websites. 'Mary' is a newly recorded version of an early B-side.
The album, Tales Of A Librarian, which Amos describes as a musical autobiography, was produced by Amos and includes songs chosen by the artist from her celebrated eastwest/Atlantic career. A limited edition version of Tales Of A Librarian features a bonus DVD. Tales Of A Librarian features 20 songs that document a career spanning over a decade, among them 'Precious Things', 'Playboy Mommy', 'Spark', 'God', 'Cornflake Girl', 'Winter', 'Tear In Your Hand', 'Professional Widow', 'Crucify' and 'Silent All These Years'. Amos has personally revisited and 'reconditioned' the original material, re-tooling the multi-track recordings to offer a new perspective on some of her most beloved songs. In addition, Tales Of A Librarian will include a pair of brand-new songs - 'Angels' and 'Snow Cherries From France' - as well as newly recorded renditions of two rare early B-sides, 'Mary' and 'Sweet Dreams'. As sequenced by Amos, the songs - which Amos has always considered to be her children - form a unique personal narrative and a breathtaking view of an extraordinary body of work.
Unquestionably one of the most acclaimed and influential artists of the modern era, Tori Amos first captured the world's attention in 1992 with her classic solo debut, the multi-platinum certified Little Earthquakes. Each consecutive collection of Amos material that followed has been certified platinum or better - Under The Pink (1994), Boys For Pele (1996), from the choirgirl hotel (1998), to venus and back (1999), and Strange Little Girls (2001).
