From Richard G. and Eric:

The message Richard and Eric left broke up in places due to a bad connection, so I only got some of their excellent comments. The written set list had Tori doing Beauty Queen/Horses, General Joy for the first encore and Leather and Pretty Good Year for the second.

Tori told the crowd that her heart was really into that place and that she could stay there forever. Before her covers, she explained the concept of her piano bar segment and said something about being dressed in boots and leather and singing her heart out in church in the 80's.

Eric mentioned that the Italian audiences are a little different and are very passionate in their response to Tori, with lots of applause. However, there were too many people taking photos and it was rather annoying and sometimes disrespectful.

I did get an email from Richard later that said:

Just a comment to say that Tom McRae and Oli were not supporting Tori again tonight.

I hope that you got the soundcheck setlist during the phone call incase that is of interest. The most important aspects were that she practiced General Joy and Virginia, neither of which have been common on this tour.

At the beginning of the covers when Tori was trying to explain to the Italians about "Tori's Piano Bar', she did a sexy little 'piano bar' improv in a Jazzy style, and said that she would play covers for 'one Euro' a song!! Someone shouted out a suggestion to her, and she said something like "I'm not playing that, you didn't pay the euro!!" and she smiled!!

I received an email follow-up from Eric and Richard that read:

Here are some additions / corrections:

- The soundcheck included (parts of & not necessarily in this order) Liquid Diamonds, Pandora's Aquarium (!), Butterfly, Spark, General Joy

- In the beginning, Tori said towards the audience "my heart feels you, I want to stay and play here forever".

- The introduction to the 'Piano Bar' show part was even more interesting. Already at the Meet & Greet in Genova, a Madonna Song ('Like A Prayer') had been requested by the Italian fans. When she started the Piano Bar, Tori mentioned that "some of you may not have been born when these songs were written" and emphasized strongly (with her index finger raised into the air) that BEFORE MADONNA, there was PAT BENATAR. "You've got to give respect where respect is due." After this little music history lesson Tori proceeded to explain that she sang her heart out at that time playing in the churches wearing her boots and she played a wonderful version of "We Belong".

- During Leather, Tori stopped in order to address the local security, who attempted to move people away from the stage again. As usual, everybody had moved there after 'The Beekeeper'. I was able to notice that the local security people did have their own setlists - so most likely they are informed about what is happening. When she stopped, Tori said something like "What's going on? What's the drama about? They are not going to hurt themselves. You know, we are doing this since 1992! They will be OK - leave them alone and go do something else..." Tori also asked Smitty to come out and handle the situation, which he did successfully. Then, she restarted Leather.

- Already during the initial start of Leather, the audience had started to clap along. At the restart of Leather, Tori then said that if we wanted to clap, it would have to be done more slowly, more 'sexy', "like this" she said, demonstrating. And that then worked rather well...

- When Tori started Taxi Ride, she very briefly improvised something like "don't wanna go - don't wanna go - ...".

- Cars and Guitars also had the audience clapping during all the parts with the voiced percussion. Tori had lots of fun with this. Throughout the show, there was a wonderful warm, friendly and passionate atmosphere.

About the Italian audience:

Their passion and enthusiasm and energy level was just wonderful. Tori must have greatly enjoyed that as well. Almost every high note (e.g. when Tori perfectly hit them during Crucify), every solo piano part and many turns between organ and piano received a spontaneous extra round of applause.

On the other hand, the taking of flashlight pictures never stopped. Somebody needs to inform everybody that the pictures will not be better with flash and that this is irritating for the artist and for the other audience members - and most cameras allow to switch off the flash function. There was also quite some talking. I observed some people, who discussed their photos that they had just taken - all during a song... A few people were smoking in their seats during the show. Please be respectful to the artist and the other audience members!

Finally, when Tori had finished The Beekeeper and left the stage and after a large part of the audience had move to the stage, most people were rather silent - at that time, there was hardly any applause. It took a little while before an applause was started again to ask Tori out once more for her encores.

But all in all - this was another wonderful 'very close to a perfect night' show.

From Fabrizio

Yesterday tori was absolutely incredible!!! She performed with such an energy that i was shivering all during the show!!! The setlist was a bit weird in my opinion, because che chose to play songs which are not vary famous (and in fact the audience din't racognize some of them), but "the girls"were played in such an inspired mood that even the people who didn't know all the songs were truly moved!

She played an amazing version of Marianne, which was one of my favourites, and a long beautiful intro to liquid diamonds that really surprised me.. i definetely think that tori was truly inspired yesterday!!! She performed also Crucify, Your Cloud, Bells for Her, and The Beekeper, and an extended and powerful version of Marys of The Sea..the bosendorfer was the real protagonist!!

During the piano bar Tori talked a lot with the audience, trying to explain the meaning of this segment of the show, and was really funny when she said that it was like "if i'm playing in an italian restaurant, while you're eating vongole, and you give me an euro saying 'play that song' !!!" we really laughed a lot, and when somebody screamed "sei grande" (which means "you're great") she laughed too in the microphone..how sweet she was!!!

Finally I'd like to mention an incident that happened during the first encore: some of the people (including me :))) were standing just in front of the stage, when she came out performing Leather.. that was all right, if it wasn't for a man from the security that kept pushing us away again and again, talking out loud that we coudn't stay there..

But at a certain point Tori STOPPED PLAYING!!! She screamed: "hey guy, wait a moment, can't we stop this drama? this happens every night, every night since 1992, and that's ok, I know they're gonna be fine!! and now, let's start nthis song from the top" So the security went away and Tori started again playing Leather: she also taught how to clap hands in a Sexy way!!!! I really loved her for this demonstration of how she respects her EWF!!!!

When she came back for the second encore she started humming "don't wanna go-don't wanna go" then started with Taxi Ride, Pretty Good Year and finally an amazing Cars and Guitars with a repeted "ciuf-ciuciuciuf" part!!! it was FUN!!!!

No doubt about it: that was the best tori show i've ever seen!!!

From Antinoo:

M&G: was excellent. Tori was very kind with me. I stayed in front of her with a laurel wreath to pray her for Apollo's Frock. She said "Yeah", but she didn't. I'll try again to request this song, in Rome probably. The Soundcheck was superb: Virginia, Butterfly, Spark, General Joy and Pandora's Aquarium. I think that she tried Pandora's Aquarium cause a friend of mine, Fairy, gave her a home made box with some fairies, and Tori seemed so happy, glade and grateful: maybe this box is a kind of pot in her mind.

Tori makes an incredible show in Modena: she was very happy to stay in Italy, and she told it a lot of time, during the show.

Crucify:

very good, but maybe I prefer the improv in Paris. In Modena she sang "never going back again to betray myself, never going back again to crucify myself even for my friends". Anyway, so intense.

Marianne:

A friends of mine (her name is Marian) meets this song everytime (Milan '01, Florence '03 and now): she never ask for it, but I think that Tori recognise her everytime. Great performance.

Marys Of The Sea:

Maybe it was a little bit long, but I adored this song, so: for me it was ok. The begin was very very powerfull.

Liquid Diamonds:

Silvia request this song during M&G and, for me, Tori has satisfied her desire, with an improv so emotional for everyone.

Your Cloud:

very very bad: I don't like this song and the way she played it.

Bells For Her:

A big emotion for me: in this tour Bells for Her seems undefended, helpless and Tori looked to the sky a lot of time during this song: very moving. I think about her brother.

We Belong:

I don't like this song too much, but good voice.

I'm On Fire:

very very sexy, and expressive.

Spark:

I never believe to have a chance to see this beautiful girl live. Thanks Tori, even for this special privilege.

Butterfly:

one of Tori's girls that I prefer: another privilege in this magic night, and another dream that become true. Great as Philadelphia '01.

Sleeps With Butterflies:

after this great butterfly, maybe I can appreciate these :-p

Spring Haze:

very very strong, powerfull and theatrical. One of the best I ever hear. Great as Milan '01.

The Beekeeper:

maybe too long. The part "Wrap yourself around the tree of life" was very bad: her voice sounds nasal, too nasal. The rest was ok, the end was spectacular, with great hammond.

Leather:

I'm bored to hear it, but in Modena it was sexy, funny and fantastic, after "the security show" :-p Thanks Tori to take our side :-p

Pretty Good Year:

I prefer it with band (during plugged tour) or solo, during Strange Little Tour (Denver for example), but ok, she makes a great version of it.

Taxi Ride:

unfortunately this is one of the Tori's Girls that I hate. She was so so sad to live us, but when she started Taxi Ride I started to be more sad than her :-pPp

Cars and Guitars:

bad last girl. I like it just a little, but I think isn't a good way to finish a very great show. But she was into deep this song, so I appreciate her energy, her emotion and what she wanted to tell us with this last encore: to keep on drivin' about our life and dreams.

Sorry for my bad english and thanks Tori: for what you did, and what you didn't.
