If anyone was there and can send the Dent reviews, please do so! From Deborah: Glastonbury doesn't allow encores (except for the headliner on the mainstage each night), so Tori's setlist is as it stands without any breaks. Tori was dressed in jeans and a light blue sparkly sleeveless top, and the shole set had a much more informal and fun feel to it than her other shows in this tour. She kept saying how much she loved Glastonbury and was very playful with the crowd. The acoustic tent was absolutely packed and the crowd were very appreciative - especially for the 'Little Earthquakes' songs. In fact during Leather, everyone (at least at the front where I was) sang along to the whole thing - it probably got the biggest reception of the night. It was a great set, and Tori performed a much more down and dirty set than the more spiritual style she has adopted of late - more like she used to play. That may not make sense, but I did just get home, and now I think it's time to sleep! From Clair: glastonbury festival itself was a mudbath but tori was playing so the elements did not matter. this was the first time i had been able to see tori live and i was blown away. the audience were amazed and left the aucoustic tent with absolute praise. tori's energy just amazed me, i sung my heart out with tears streaming down my face. it was the best moment of my life. From matt e: Without a doubt the most wonderful set I have ever seen Tori perform. The venue really helped; the acoustic tent at glastonbury only holds about 300 people and it was all standing so it was incredibly intimate. The crowd were great too, lots of obvious tori fanatics; plus Tori played a very accessible and upbeat set which created such a wicked atmosphere. You could tell that Tori was having an amazing time, she talked loads and was very flirty with the audience. Pretty much everything she did caused riotous applause from the audience, especially the songs she played on the organ and piano at the same time. Tori did a lot of hip thrusting in response! I tried to remember as best I could some of the stuff she said... before 'take to the sky' she said she needed our help to be her drummer, and got everyone clapping with her piano slapping. at the end she clapped the audience and said she wanted to fly us all to the USA straight away. before 'sweet..' she said "if you're anything like me you're sweating buckets right now" which was so cute as it sounded so english! she did a bit of a intro then about how all the boys think they're hardcore but the girls know what it's all about... it didn't actually make much sense but everyone was whooping along anyway. absolutely stellar performance of 'sweet..', definately the best i've seen. before 'feelin groovy' she explained about the piano bar and that she played covers and everyone went mental and started shouting requests. she said "yeah, beacuse i'm on the acoustic stage i can play all of them... fuck off!". then she said if we knew the words to sing along and she wouldnt kill us if we were tone deaf... someone shouted they loved her and she did her "love you back", but said it very deliberately and patting her behind,,, just before 'barons' she said how much she loved glastonbury and how happy it made her, and that the crowd had been "fucking wicked". This was truly, truly the most brilliant live performance I have ever seen of anything, so different to all the other sets i've seen her do. i had a proper glastonbury moment and blubbed all the way through 'pretty good year'. definately the highlight of glastonbury 2005! From Sarah Counter: I have waited 10 years to see Tori Amos and I finally got my chance this year at Glastonbury. So I got to see the best female artist ever at the best festival ever and she did not let me down. I thought that she was quite calm for her and she was greeted like a goddess in spite of the fact she was on at the same time as some major acts on other stages. This shows what people will do to see her and i knew that I would probably never see her again so I am so glad I got the chance. I didn't full blown cry but I shed a few rollers. I guess that is a tribute to how happy I was to fulfil a dream and get to sing along in person for once. Read a review of this performance from the official Glastonbury web site. |
