The Canadian Soul Shine Magazine posted a news item about Tori's upcoming new album The Beekeeper on November 3, 2004. There is nothing new here that was not already covered by the official Sony press release, but I thought I would mention it.
Here is the article:
Tori Amos Prepares Album and Book
Quirky pianist Tori Amos is finishing up production on what's to become her next full-length album. Given the name 'Beekeeper', the record is set for release early next year on February 22nd. Just as she did on her 2002 album 'Scarlet's Walk', the singer is self-producing 'Beekeeper'. Some of the songs to be included on the upcoming album include: 'Sweet the Sting', 'Sleeps With Butterflies', and 'Ribbons Undone'.
While Amos is known for her skills at the piano, on 'Beekeeper' the artist is adding a new element to her music: the organ. Through her web site, Amos has said about the combination of instruments: "I have been changed by the relationship between these two beautiful creatures, the Bosendorfer piano and the B3 Hammond organ."
Not only will the coming year see a new musical release from Amos, but a written work as well. Along with journalist Ann Powers, Amos is co-writing a biography of her life called 'Tori Amos: Piece by Piece'. Although the pianist is quite a private person, the book promises a look inside both her musical life and her off-stage life. Published by a division of Random House called Broadway Books, 'Tori Amos: Piece by Piece' will hit shelves on February 8th.
Amos' last full-length release was the 18-track 'Scarlet's Walk', which was released in late 2002. Her first foray into the music world was with her critically acclaimed 1992 debut 'Little Earthquakes. With the release of 'Beekeeper' in 2005, Amos will have built-up a back catalogue of eight studio-albums.
