From Danica:
Danica called me after the Tempe show by cell phone. Danica was feeling a little sick tonight, but still enjoyed the show and said Tori sounded great.
After Little Earthquakes, Tori said hello and then talked about one of her favorite movies, Almost Famous. She quotes from the movie, saying (at least in part) "I am a golden god." She then told the crowd that it was a couple of days before Tash's Christmas party, and that Tash said that no one could come unless they were wearing pink.
During her solo set, which was amazing, Tori did no talking and no improvs.
Tori debuted Talula for this tour tonight. It was similar to the way she performed it on the previous tour, but also different. It was definitely faster. She started the song by playing both the Rhodes and the Wurlitzer at the same time. During the "and Jamaica" bridge, she switched to the Bosey. Then later she went back to playing the Rhodes and Wurlitzer keyboards at the same time.
From Juarezboy:
This was my second Tori show, the first one being in St. Louis during the Strange Girl tour, and I must say, she had so much energy!! I had awesome seats (I was in the Pit :-) ) and it was very beautiful. She started out with Wampum Prayer and A Sorta Fairytale, as she has done with other concerts. Everybody was really getting into it with Take To The Sky, which she did amazingly. I was surprised and very happy to hear Pandora's Aquarium, which she projected out very well. I went nuts when she did Never Seen Blue, because that was THE song I wanted to hear at my first concert last year. I guess good things come to those who wait :-). I was shocked to hear Lovesong, because I had not heard that song in a VERY long time, and it was one of the last songs that I thought she would play. However it was very beautiful. My friend screamed when she did Mrs. Jesus, because it was her song. She did interesting variations on Crucify and Talula. The band really can change the mood and atmosphere of a song! I was happy to hear Honey, being that I played it the night before. When she started Spring Haze, I was beyond words, being that its my fav song on To Venus and Back. It was done so well, the perfect way to do it live, in my opinion. It was even better when she did Juarez after that. She must have been on a To Venus and Back kick! ;-). Past the Mission was great, and Taxi Ride was awesome!!!!! She did Songbird, another surprise for me, and ended the show with Horses. She had so much energy last nite, and she really got into her songs. Definitely NOT a disappointing show, and I cannot wait until the 2nd leg of her tour!!
