Ridiculous "Pop Quiz" at MSN.comAdded June 23, 2000 |

Tracy Yen, Upside Down Girl, Maberly, and Michael Histen were the first to tell me about an absurd One Hit Wonder "Pop Quiz" you can find at MSN.com. The page starts by saying, "They sing the songs that make us fall in love -- and then they drop off the face of the Earth. See how many of these recording-industry supernovas-turned-black-holes you remember from the not-so-distant past -- and vote for the Artist Most Likely Never to Be Heard from Again." Question #7 says, " Which artist is most likely never to repeat hitdom?" The choices include one that says Tori Amos ("Blessed"). It is included with such choices as "Mambo #5" by Loy Bega and "Torn" by Natalie Imbroglia. If you take the quiz, they them comment on each question, and on the one including Tori all they say about her is "Tori-- Snorey. " First of all, Tori never recorded a song called "Blessed" as far as we know. Perhaps they meant "Bliss". Secondly, Tori has never had a regular top 40 hit in the U.S. with Bliss or any other single (however all FIVE of her albums have gone Gold or Platinum, which hardly classifies her as a "one hit wonder".) Lastly, they may have meant Christina Aguilera, who has recorded such a song. Perhaps Bill Gates should hire people who actually know what they are talking about! ;) UPDATE: I see they have now corrected the song to "Bliss." But the overall absurdity of Tori being in such a quiz remains! |
