Tori appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman on Tuesday, October 29, 2002. She performed a sorta fairytale with Matt Chamberlain on drums and Jon Evans on bass. (This is the band Tori will have with her during the On Scarlet's Walk tour.) Tori also talked with Dave, but it was very brief. You can find screen shots and a transcript below.

I really enjoyed this performance. Tori looked fantastic in her outfit and the band sounded great. The piano with just the bass and drums sounds very interesting, and there was definitely a strong bass feel to the performance. After seeing this I think we are in for a real treat in the upcoming On Scarlet's Walk tour!

I was also sent the photo you see below from Karolyn. It shows Tori outside the studio talking with fans.

Letterman Transcript

Thanks Ben Ruppert:

D: Our next guest, the talented sing/songwriter, a long time friend of ours, please welcome back our friend Tori Amos.

[Tori plays the single version of "a sorta fairytale". She was wearing a gorgeous rainbow poncho-like article of clothing with fringes coming off at the edges]

Then some commercials.

D: Scarlet's Walk, uh, beautiful, lovely, congratulations, very nice to see you again, everything all right?
T: Everything's great.
D: Uh, we have something for you.
T: Oh boy! [mouths "Thanks" and smiles at audience]
D: A Snickers bar. My thanks to, uh, the lovely Tori Amos, are you out touring and stuff like that?
T: Yes, we start in a couple weeks. [Looks at audience again. Just like her, seems to be preoccupied with the audience the whole time.]
D: Can I go with you?
T: Come with us. [Beckoning with her hands]
D: My thanks also to Selma Hayek and the intuitive Deborah Lin. I think she was her very best tonight, don't... did you get a chance to see...
T: [Was staring at audience smiling, it's obvious she belongs there, snapping out of it to talk to David] Uh, no, I liked Deborah Lin, yeah.
D: Tomorrow on the program... [Talks about the program] ...good night everyone. [To Tori] Thank you.
