Rainny informed me that the December 28, 2001 edition of the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, UT placed Strange Little Girls at #5 on their top 13 albums of 2001. The list was part of an article called "The Best and the Worst of 2001: Pop music" By Scott Iwasaki, a Deseret News music editor.
Here is the entire list:
- Big Dumb Face, "Duke Lion Fights the Terror!!"
- Tenacious D, untitled
- Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, "Live in New York City"
- Weezer, untitled ("The Green Album")
- Tori Amos, "Strange Little Girls"
- Howard Shore, "Lord of the Rings" Soundtrack
- Dave Matthews Band, "Everyday"
- Bob Dylan, Love and Theft"
- Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, "Live from Mars"
- Slipknot, "Iowa"
- Reissue of Marley, Bob & the Wailers, "Catch a Fire"
- Michael Jackson, "Invincible"
- Loudness, "Spiritual Canoe"
The author of that list, Scott Iwasaki, also said in another article that same day called "Zany, crazy events on music scene " that the best concert in Abravanel Hall in Utah was from Tori and that the best remake of 2001 was Tori's cover of Slayer's "Rain of Blood." (I think he means "Raining Blood"!)
