Tori Amos
Scarlet's Walk (Epic, 2002)

Ms. Amos assumes a character, Scarlet, and sends her packing around the country, reflecting on topics ranging from religion to rape in a post-9/11 world. As usual, Ms. Amos is all over the map, but her lilt and her piano belie the heavy lyrics.
