Tori appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman on Tuesday, September 18, 2001. This was Dave's second show since the horrible events that took place in New York a week earlier. Tori appeared and performed "Time", which was achingly beautiful. I think the performance really had a strong effect on Dave, because he seemed near tears afterwards. This was one of Tori's most emotional performances ever on TV. Tori was seen briefly next to Dave at the very end of the show, but she did not speak. Look below for screen shots I took of the performance.

Toriamos.org had this to say about Tori's performance:

David Letterman made an emotional return to the Ed Sullivan Theater on Monday [September 17, 2001] in his first show since the terrorist attack on the America.Ý Tuesday the show remained subdued but took it's first steps toward a return to normalcy.Ý The tone was respectful and cautious, as though testing whether the people of New York and the world are far enough into the healing process to share the healing power of laughter.

It was to that scene that Tori brought her trademark ability to draw on the emotions of a room and crystalize them in a song.Ý After Tori's performance of Tom Wait's "Time," a visibly moved Letterman greeted Tori with a firm hug.Ý In the final segment Letterman fought back the emotions as he thanked Tori repeatedly and closed with "We'll try it again tomorrow night."
