Spin Magazine: Tori Speaks Out Against Piracy
September 1997

The September 1997 issue of Spin Magazine (w/Prodigy on the cover) has a Tori quote on page 56 in the Soundbites section. The article is titled "On the Download" and is about fan websites and anti-piracy issues. The entire paragraph says:

"What ever happened to good old-fashioned asking for permission?" asks Geffen Records director of technology Jim Griffin. "The artists are hurt the most because the only thing they own is their music." While No Doubt's Gwen Stefani says she'd be a "greedy son of a bitch" if she complained, even Tori Amos, who supports her hundreds of fan sites with exclusive photos and interviews, casts a disapproving eye at piracy. "If you're downloading to make a profit," Amos says, "then you're going to have to live with the fact that you're a scumbag."
